Perlite Humidification

With perlite humidification it seems to me as though it would be hard to maintain a certain humidity, especially if having to open the chamber a few times daily to fan for air exchange. Is it best to have some form of heat in the terrarium to help keep the moisture up? I'm interested in knowing how all of you set your rigs up because i want to build mine right the first time.

with perlite you need to fan it 3-5 times a day. Yes, you can use other methods that will not require you to fan, or you could buy a growing kit like McMan's Hydra-pod (myco-tek.com) Heat keeps the moisture up? No, you don't need a heat source, unless you're in a cold climate. Some people put a cup of water into their terrariums and then put a light into the water... This keeps it warm and keeeps humidity up. Most people just use perlite, and fan. It's the price you've gotta pay for shrooms...

cool. I don't care fanning at all...i just thought with all that opening/closing of the terrarium it would lost a lot of the humidity in the air, but if ya say it works it does!
the temp around my place is about 60-70 degrees and i can't imagine a bunch of wet perlite sitting in a case making things very humid...but we'll see i guess

i find 2 daily sprayings is good w/ perlite. pertlite should be kept damp all over but without ne loose water. keeping it drained does wonders.
