Well wouldnt the humidity inside the terrarrium be AT LEAST as high as outside? its not like the humidity from normal air dissapears when i put the lid on ....

ive also found that the texture of styrofoam doesnt inhibit water droplets to form on the walls of my terrarium though it is perfectly humidified. so you are probably fine.

if condensation on walls isn't a reliable indicator of humidity is there any easy indicator that doesn't involve buying a meter of some kind?

Water droplets on the inside are from the water CONDENSING to the walls. This happens from TEMPERATURE, not humidity. No condensation on the inside walls does not in any way mean for certain you don't have adaquate humidity. I've had the humidity TOO high w/o condensation on the inside walls of my terrariums before. (Brown streaking of shrooms)
