On the other hand there are documents to attest that.

Scientology is the invention of a former Crowley student and OTO Member,
for the express purpose of harvesting $ and other subtle energies from Scientologists.

ALL of Crowley's students started a Religion after becoming Adeptus Major.

They are all designed to mislead and exploit the "ignorant and lazy masses"

From Wiki:

While convalescing after the war, Hubbard met Jack Parsons, an aeronautics professor at Caltech and an associate of the British occultist Aleister Crowley. Hubbard and Parsons were allegedly engaged in the practice of ritual magick in 1946, including an extended set of sex magic rituals called the Babalon Working, intended to summon a goddess or "moonchild." The Church insists Hubbard was a US government intelligence agent on a mission to end Parsons' supposed magical activities and to "rescue" a girl Parsons was "using" for supposedly magical purposes. In a 1952 lecture series, Hubbard recommended a book of Crowley's and referred to him as "Mad Old Boy"[57][58] and as "my very good friend".[59] Hubbard later married the girl he said that he rescued from Parsons, Sara Northrup.[60] Crowley recorded in his notes that he considered Hubbard a "lout" who made off with Parsons' money and girlfriend in an "ordinary confidence trick".

Crowley/Parsons/Hubbard/NAZIs/NASA = greatest story ever told...

Well, the other thread certainly seems to be nothing but heresay, conjecture, and posturing. I'm left wondering what Scientology actually is. I've seen it proposed quite often that one has to make the distinction between all of these different aspects of what Scientology is, but isn't all these differences all aspects of Scientology?

What are these aspects? What is Scientology, and what does it offer?

My experience of Scientology is that it's just another distraction from the truth. Which is not what we humans need right now!

All bodies of knowledge have some truth in them. Some more than others, however.

And at least Hubbard went and looked for himself instead of blindly accepting just any old bullshit like seems to be "en vogue" with some.

Scientology contains 58 axioms, penned in 1954, which the remainder of the subject is built on. The first 10 axioms (and then a few others) are as follows:

Axiom 1: Life is basically a static.

DEFINITION: a life static has no mass, no motion, no wavelength, no location in space or in time. It has the ability to postulate and to perceive.

Axiom 2: The static is capable of considerations, postulates and opinions.

Axiom 3: Space, energy, objects, form and time are the result of considerations made and/or agreed upon by the static and are perceived solely because the static considers that it can perceive them.

Axiom 4: Space is a viewpoint of dimension.

Axiom 5: Energy consists of postulated particles in space.

Axiom 6: Objects consist of grouped particles.

Axiom 7: Time is basically a postulate that space and particles will persist.

Axiom 8: The apparency of time is the change of position of particles in space.

Axiom 9: Change is the primary manifestation of time.

Axiom 10: The highest purpose in the universe is the creation of an effect.

--

Axiom 13: The cycle of action of the physical universe is create, survive (which is persist), destroy.

Axiom 21: Understanding is composed of affinity, reality and communication.

Axiom 23: The static has the capability of total knowingness. Total knowingness would consist of total ARC.

Axiom 26: Reality is the agreed–upon apparency of existence.

Axiom 27: An actuality can exist for one individually, but when it is agreed with by others it can be said to be a reality.

Axiom 28: Communication is the consideration and action of impelling an impulse or particle from source-point across a distance to receipt–point, with the intention of bringing into being at the receipt–point a duplication and understanding of that which emanated from the source–point.

Axiom 31: Goodness and badness, beautifulness and ugliness are alike considerations and have no other basis than opinion.

Axiom 36: A lie is a second postulate, statement or condition designed to mask a primary postulate which is permitted to remain.

EXAMPLES: Neither truth nor a lie is a motion or alteration of a particle from one position to another.

A lie is a statement that a particle having moved did not move, or a statement that a particle, not having moved, did move.

The basic lie is that a consideration which was made was not made or that it was different.

Axiom 39: Life poses problems for its own solution.

Dianetics contains over 190 axioms which deal with the physical universe, the mind and the body and their relationship to one another.

Scientology's just a nice type of medium fat cheese which goes well with biscuits and most red wines.
