:nono: We should be charging you, this is exclusive information. From my experiences a lifestyle is more or less modeled and altered on the basis of the belief to support it, once again from what i've seen personally. So some behavioral, well not some, anyhow, takes place.

I couldn't tell you how these beliefs become grounded, but i'd assume it to come from a need for community, respect, understanding... what scientology like other religions fill the void with so to speak with and what makes them such a commodity.

Any thought or understanding of the nature of reality "fills the void". I don't comprehend how this should be portrayed in a negative light.

You gotta be typically initiated into scientology to grasp more details about its nature.

Filling the void is a goog thing don't get me wrong, i agree with you here... but its how they fill the void that i take issue with... and more so just what they're filling it up with.

Control has gotten a bad rap in modern society, but in Scientology, control is defined as: the ability to Start, Change and Stop something. Lose one, or all, of those abilities and you have lost control. Knowledge, Responsibility and Control are thus intimately related. It applies to can openers and it applies to life.

If you look at the Scientology symbol you will see two triangles with an "S".(http://www.rtc.org/pics/en_US/intro/intro_scn.jpg) Knowledge Responsibility and Control (or KRC) form one of the triangles and the other is A-R-C which is Affinity, Reality and Communication. These three are also intimately related and inextricable from the other.

The ARC (usually pronounced by stating the individual letters), however, allows one to predict human behavior if you know more about it.

As far as my personal path, that's an entire story in itself, I would just have to say that Scientology increased my KRC of life.

Luring you in with a contrived basis, slowly accumulating on the basis of it, till you have this monumental piece of garbage that your left wondering how you've got yourself here to begin with. Like most of its kind the premise doesn't start off small either, it doesn't rely on anything that can be proven or disproved, its merely a meme for the manipulation of others, its benefit is to itself, not those that hold it.

Just like most organized religions; nonsense in my opinion, half truths, false syllogisms. Its assumed more then anything then the foundation for it is built on that basis. Dogma... Your basic religion.

Well, I appreciate your perspective on the matter, but for one thing, you did not answer my question as to the specific understanding that the "void" was being filled with, and you didn't actually substantiate this perspective.

In this thread, I am seeking an understanding of the nature of Scientology itself, the information and understanding that it exists as, as well as its practice, and not a viewpoint of its "actual" nature and effects such as this. Please keep these types of views in the other thread.

Thats what the void is being filled with which gives the one who is into it a sense of complacency, comunion, and trust. In order to analyze whats going in you need to know what it made out of.

It's not being filled with reason, its being filled with justification thats basis isn't on reason, but instead directly defies it.

That is a good definition. In which realms does Scientology feel that control, as described in this manner, be applied?

Quote:
Knowledge, Responsibility and Control are thus intimately related. It applies to can openers and it applies to life.

I agree and understand this relation. When one takes responsibility for oneself, one's actions, and one's experience of reality, for example, one needs to be capable of initiating action and thought, changing action and thought, and ceasing patterns of thought and action, and one needs to have the knowledge and understanding of how to most effectively engage in this.

Quote:
Knowledge Responsibility and Control (or KRC) form one of the triangles and the other is A-R-C which is Affinity, Reality and Communication. These three are also intimately related and inextricable from the other.

Could you tell me more about Affinity, Reality, and Communication? I can guess what reality and communication refer to, but don't know much about the word "affinity".

Quote:
The ARC (usually pronounced by stating the individual letters), however, allows one to predict human behavior if you know more about it.

Most certainly. The more one understands about a specific process, the more capable one is of exercising predictive power. :headbang:

Quote:
As far as my personal path, that's an entire story in itself, I would just have to say that Scientology increased my KRC of life.

And what of ARC? Is it in regards to one's perceptions of reality and one's ability to express and influence the course of reality, due to one's knowledge and ability to take action within reality, as a result of one's taking responsibility for oneself?

Psychoactive1984, maybe on this thread you will answer my questions.

How many Scientology books have you read? How many Scientology courses have you done? How much auditing have you had?

No, I mean I am seeking what beliefs/understanding specifically are being adopted due to the causes that bring one to assume them. In order to analyze these beliefs and understanding, I need to actually know what specifically they are, not how some individuals live their lives, which may or may not be the result of the beliefs and understanding they ascribe to.

I apologize, but this statement is very ambigious, especially as I have no clue what this justification is, and thus am not capable of determining whether or not it is based upon the foundation of reason.

Good questions.

It is impossible to formulate an understanding of the nature of a phenomenon without actually knowing the actual content that the phenomenon is resulting from.

School is no different than a cult or religion in this regard. If you didn't actually know specifically what was being taught in school, science and math and etc., and what that understanding was based upon, you would simply observe the effects and determine that these children were being brainwashed. :smirk:

The things is, you didn't answer it there and you didn't answer it here, but we both know the answer is ZERO.

So, while you are entitled to your opinions on Scientology, you aren't qualified to speak on what it is and isn't in actuality.

All depends on the nature of analysis now doesn't it? Would that mean i'd have to devote my life to understanding the bible in order to understand it? Or could i sufficiently analyze the work of others to come to the same and equally valid conclusion?

Supposing i involved myself in everything just so that i'd better understand it and come to a conclusion... you only have so much time and what you guys are offering as legitimate reason not to mock scientology is akin to devoting yourself to what you don't understand in every respect which is impossible. In life we rely on the experiences and observations of others to often guide us because we can't devote all the time that their able to or we are unwilling to for our own reasons.

Your basically suggesting that we become scientologists through your statments which is ludicrous. Convert or you have no place in the discussion. You guys are also making those that have strayed away from the belief non-inclusive of the argument for some reason. Their is a clear bias going on.

Re: What IS Scientology? [Re: Psychoactive1984]

Please, I am not a scientologist, have no interest in investing my time in becoming a disciplined scholar of it, but yet am still capable of engaging in discussion with someone who has spent more time dealing with it to build an understanding. I have not offered a reason to not "mock" it, either, but have simply supported the purpose and intention of the nature of this thread so that this thread can fufill a specific purpose.

I am interested in gaining an understanding of the nature of Scientology itself, referring, of course, to the information and knowledge contained within it and its practice - not of views of the "true nature" of all this. I am proposing that it is not really possible to know its "true nature" without actually knowing what it is, and to suscribe to the conclusions of others regarding its horrible "true nature" is baseless, unless it is coupled with an understanding of the phenomenon itself.

If you cannot tell me what its actual beliefs and practices are, and simply the conclusions others have reached regarding the nature of this, then the conclusion is unsupported and not the understanding that I am seeking in this thread. I am not interested in heresay, conjecture, or posturing, which is why I created this thread, as opposed to simply posting in the thread already dedicated to that.

So basically a thread for the believers of it ok fine. You don't wish to know the true nature of it so what are you seeking? This is like going to a pr company and asking what they want you to feel about a religion.

You might as well go to their homepage and bone up on material. :whatever:

Incorrect. I'm not a "believer of it", and yet I am the one who created it. :smirk: I'm seeking a discussion of the actual aspects of Scientology itself, not speculation as to which context it "actually" exists within. One doesn't have to believe to participate in this thread in a constructive manner, but one has to actually know what is being believed, or to be capable of facillitating that understanding by asking questions and providing thoughts to expand upon other thoughts.

I'm not interested in speculation regarding the "true nature" of the following of these aspects or its effects because there is already a thread for that. Different topics being discussed differently. :sorry:
