Illegal immigrants, contact INS?

So, in my are Ive noticed an increase 5 fold of non-english speaking guys working various jobs who are here illegally. I really dont care if theyre here, my problem is I know their taking jobs from legal citizens. I dont know of a specific case where a citizen was denied a job but I do know of 3 cases where contractors lost jobs because they were lowballed.

Would you call INS? As much as authority disagrees with me I cant help but be tempted to call it in. Theyre here to support their families, fine but, we have to support ours too. I never really understood why it pissed guys off so much until I saw it in action.

I would call, but right now my opinion is biased. I just lost my job because of my plant's work being shipped to both Mexico and China. I have nothing against immigrants coming here to do work that most Americans won't, in fact I appreciate it since it keeps the price of produce down. We don't need them here illegaly.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully something comes up.

Another thing that crosses my mind is that I plan on opening up my own shop in the future. How can I do that when Im being undercut on labor and not able to bid competitively? Nothing will be done if I do call in so why rat on someone I guess.

I dont think I could bring myself to do it.

If I called INS everytime I knew someone was an illegal I would never get off of the phone where I live. Them working, doesn't really bother me, but when I don't understand what people are saying around me 50% of the time. Then I get a little pissed. Seriously is it so fucking hard for them to learn english? If I planned on living in mexico I would learn spanish instead of expecting everyone to adapt to me. Theres some fuckers that were born in this country and they still speak spanish and barley english. I have a buddy who just moved here from mexico and has only lived here around 5 months and he speaks english fluently. Is it really so much to ask that people speak the language which is spoken in that country instead of selfishly expecting everyone to adapt to them?

Man its a bitch when you have to coordinate with non-english speakers/quasi english speakers. I wanna do a Samuel Jackson every time I gotta deal that shit: "ENGLISH, DO YOU SPEAK IT MOTHERFUCKER". The least a company could do is send out a person you can communicate with.

unfortuanley it isnow 'illegal" to rat on a apersons legal status.
we live in a very "transition type" neighborhood. Meaning we have every 3 - 4 months a new crop of new ppl to the country. They are cray in my eyes. If you call the police and say "these fucking illegal bastards are pissing in my rose garden and getting fdrunk on my stoop!" you get a "It is impossible to verify legal status without proper inspection of papers. To accuse someone of being illegal is a serious offense. If you are wrong you can be proscuted."

I see you've bought into the bullshit like most everyone else, all illegal aliens
keep down is the nominal wage, if it kept prices down we wouldnt be paying more
than 25 cents for a soda, if employers would pay a decent wage for these jobs they
claim americans wont do then they'd find out that we will in fact do them.

Another interesting fact is Washington, Oregon, and California also have the highest population when is comes to hispanics. Yet all three of the states have the highest minimum wage.

government keeps minimum wage down, large corporations help. illegal aliens are
just a means to an end, when I was 17 I worked pitching bricks for masons, at the
time there were few hispanics in the trade here in georgia, I earned $9/hr. a few
years later there was a large influx of illegals due to the construction boom, now
more than 20 years later that same job pays the same amount of money and is
flooded by illegals

was it the fault of the worker that his pay hasnt changed in 20 years?

this isn't true at all. despite the effects of cheap employment on prices, the nation still experiences a greater force of inflation. The easiest way to observe this is by taking a look at agricultural prices. they have risen over time, which is to expected, despite the fact that the methods of growing/harvest/etc have stayed the same.

and even with the illegal immigrants here, keeping the prices of certain services and products lower than it would normally be, those products will still experience the effects of inflation and will still rise.

If you did call and they did deport them all they do is release them over the border. Alot of them will be back the same day!

The only thing that will ever work is to be tougher on the people who are employing these illegals. Personally I have been to Mexico (deep Mexico) and I can't blame them for coming here. There are no decent jobs and no chance of bettering themselves. As for the minimum wage, I think alot of these illegals are working under the table, so min wage wouldn't apply.

first lets clarify something, immigrants apply for a residency status, we arent
talking about immigrants, we're talking about illegal aliens, aliens are invaders
and in more recent times they've made that very claim.

now back to the debate at hand, where does this inflationary cost come from when
labor costs arent factored in, why has this inflation exceeded the cost of
living increases, cheap labor doesnt keep costs down, look at goods sold through
walmart, most are produced in factories overseas where labor is cheap, companies
are outsourcing labor to foriegn markets and yet the prices of their products
remain the same, some even increase. it's all about increasing profit margins,
nothing more

the thing is that a lot, if not most, of these immigrants are not from mexico. they're from central and south america. and i agree with mushbaby, there are no decent jobs for them because most of them are illiterate and even if you have a college degree it is hard to get a decent job. i can speak because i live in on of these countries. the situation is fucked and they believe in the american dream. i'm not saying i agree with what they are doing but i definitely understand why they do it.

their home countries and demand change, if they stood up and fought the corrupt
