California is like near_dylan said; the massive amount of migrants and people coming in out of state in tandem with the succesful people leaving the state - i can see this, but still - that puts us around in the lower 2/3rds, not last by any means.

finally, i have lived in Colorado, Washington, Idaho, and California - and California is the best, easily.  As in it’s sunny in Feburary, and warm out - you can smoke joints walking down the street, most people are chill, lots of amazing music.  Sure, there are tons of downsides that most people overlook and shouldn’t, but thats just kinda life here.  I dont overlook it, actually Ive been thinking about trying to spend more time volunteering at a community education center lately or social support centers in SF to help out.
