Lost the energy to talk
    #6983382 -

This is a hard thing to explain,, i've had alot of stress recently,, and it feels like i've lost my charisma..

I used to talk alot on msn but all that's stopped suddenly,, i'm even reluctant to post on here, anything i say i'm second guessing....
When people phone me up i'm struggling to be natural, like i'm used to being.
I've even stopped playing my guitar,,, tho that might not seem connected it's like i've lost the will to express myself....

The initial stress has declined but i'm still left with this lingering/pseudo-apathetic feeling...

Anyone know what i mean ?,,, i want my brain/spark back lol...

Try being silent for a whole day, or even a few days if you can. I do this and it's always good. I am able to observe my thoughts better and the way the things that I wish to say form in my head, and realize how useless or even counterproductive most of it is. Then when I am able to talk again it feels like a privelege not a right and my speech is more natural and honest.

“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

I spend alot of time in near silence,, not so much in a reflective manner though...

I only make threads like these when a problem is at it's extreme,, it's usually when i'm at a turning point...

'Had enough, shout out, then fix it;' lol

These threads (and comments within) are often a turning point for me..

Yes I've been there. It does feels like you've lost your charisma, or at least that's what you think. And you become what you think about yourself.
I had a very difficult time expressing myself, and even if I had something to express, I just encountered stops when I actually wanted to speak. It was a damn confusing and awkward situation and I had a lot to struggle with it.
All I can tell you is that first and most important of all you must let it follow it's course, because that too, even it might not look like that, it is a healing process.
So take your tome with it, take a break from all the things (or at least a part) that require your opinion, you talking or expressing any idea. Spend time with yourself, read, watch movies, listen to music and go for walks, on your own. This is imperative for re grounding yourself and for finding the peace that you have lost.
Stay quiet as much time as you can.
What I've discovered to come in great help are animals. So it would be excellent to get a cat, dog, or whatever else crosses your mind and you think/feel that might make you feel good (that in case you like animals).
Do that for a couple of months or even more. Basically, do that until you feel you're ready to get to the next level. You'll know when you'll be ready because you'll just feel the urge to communicate, to hang around with friends and the like. But take it slow, you might be so elated that you might over react and soon find yourself back into depression, since your strength is not fully established. Tank it slow and you'll feel that you'll get stronger each day, it's something that noticeable.
And don't worry about the time that you'll have to wait until you'll feel ready to communicate again, take as long as it's necessary because even it might seem too long, I can guarantee you that you won't remain in that state forever.
I wish you good luck

All this time I've loved you
And never known your face
All this time I've missed you
And searched this human race
Here is true peace
Here my heart knows calm
Safe in your soul
Bathed in your sighs

Oh brother, I can't, I can't get through
I've been trying hard to reach you 'cause I don't know what to do
Oh brother, I can't believe it's true
I'm so scared about the future and I wanna talk to you
Oh I wanna talk to you

You can take a picture of something you see
In the future, where will I be?
You can climb a ladder up to the sun
Or write a song nobody has sung, or do
Something that's never been done

Are you lost or incomplete?
Do you feel like a puzzle, you can't find your missing piece?
Tell me how do you feel?
Well I feel like they're talking in a language I don't speak
And they're talking it to me...

So you take a picture of something you see
In the future, where will I be?
You can climb a ladder, up to the sun
Or a write a song, nobody has sung, or do
Something that's never been done, or do
Something that's never been done

So you don't know where you're going, and you wanna talk
And you feel like you're going where you've been before
You tell anyone who'll listen but you feel ignored
Nothing's really making any sense at all
Let's talk, let's ta-a-alk

Let's talk, let's ta-a-alk

(Try Singing)

this is how i am bro, yea to much stress, negativity, blame, hate, compulsiveness, psychosis, neuroticism, anxiety, depression, and so on and just taking to much shit people and dealing with to many problems i just dont have any incentive to talk to anyone and everything seems so meaningless and drab. i'm content in all this though and i work alot and im committed to trying hard, things could be better though because everything is just so apathetic

When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

When the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

High up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
If you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I...

Tears stream down your face
You thought you were alone, in this place
Tears stream down your face
And I...

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Coldplay: Fix You

Hello again Mike.  I thought I'd revisit the topic and try talking instead of singing tonight -- apparently, we're both big Coldplay fans.  I hadn't heard Fix You before last night and I have to agree, it's a keeper.

Sometimes music is a good means of expressing ourselves when we can't put our feelings into words.  If can help shift that sense of stuckness we can get bogged down in just to be able to express what's going on in some fashion.  What really struck me about the song was that haunting sense of loss it touches on.  I think all of us probably have or will go through an experience where we have lost something we cherished and we have to figure out a means of going on without that something in our lives.  "Lights" are maybe those bits of support, encouragement and insight we gain along the way.

Anyway, back to you...

mikeyyork: This is a hard thing to explain,, i've had alot of stress recently,, and it feels like i've lost my charisma...

The initial stress has declined but i'm still left with this lingering/pseudo-apathetic feeling...

I don't know what kind of stress you went through but I do know that stress can whittle down our personal resources, particularly so if it's sustained over a long period of time.  If the stress involved a loss of some kind -- a relationship, a belief system -- that can erode our sense of personal identity or perhaps cause us to question where we should invest our beliefs or draw meaning in the future.  All losses inevitably trigger a grief response.

I'm not sure if that might be what you're going through.  Whatever it is, other people have likely been there before you and found various methods of moving through and resolving their difficulties.  If you're up to sharing a few more details it's possible that others can provide you with some concrete suggestions that might be helpful.

Either way -- thanks for introducing me to the song.

I think your probably right,, i've been sat around wanting things to return to normal without realizing things have changed...
Feeling down about it as if something's been taken away from me, without really knowing where the prolonged apathy is coming from..

I started taking 5-HTP which i bought ages ago but i never felt like i needed to use, maybe it's placebo but i feel abit brighter which is a big improvement.

People in this thread have pretty much hit the nail on the head to what it's been like.

Spiritualemerg: Snow Patrol have some good stuff, if you like Coldplay you might like them too, their two last albums have been cool..
