I have removed the email addy from this letter to me at the request of my friend.
Dr. Stijve sent me this email a few days ago. So i will share it with anyone who is ion France and elsewhere. One would need access to a French Univrsity Library to extract the data from their stacks.
Of course, if one already reads French they can figure out what the articles are about.

Dear John,
Thank you for the Japanese illustration of Panaeolus papilonaceus, which is indeed vaguely reminiscent of a Copelandia.
I am afraid I cannot help you . It is years ago since I studied the genus, and the last two years I could not attend any foray, due to illness. Unfortunately, my health has not improved. But enough of that.
You may wish to discuss your problems directly with Ewald Gerhardt himself. He is still employed at Berlin University. You’ll find his whereabouts easily via the Internet.
The French Champignons Magazine issue devoted to psychoactive mushrooms came out today. It has your picture with Albert Hofmann, which I took during the Conference at Amsterdam in 1998. The editor Olivier Brandilin promised me to send you a copy. If you do not get it within 10 days, send me an e-mail.
Speaking of hallucinogenic ‘shrooms, did you see Régis Courtecuisse’s « Champignons hallucinogènes d’Europe et des Amériques: mise au point mycologique et toxicologique ». Annales de Toxicologie Analytique, Vol. XVI, n° 1, pp36 - 64 (2004) ? Among the references he mentions at least four of your major papers. His list of psilocybin-containing mushrooms is not complete, but the article is well written and its info reliable. Moreover, Courtecuisse may be considered the leading French mycologist.
I’ll send you by airmail the following documents:
· A folder about MYCORAMA, the interactive mushroom centre at Cernier, Switzerland, which will be opened on October 27 of this year.
· A colour copy of a page from Der Tintling raving about MYCORAMA.
· “Heilen mit Pilzen”, a booklet on medicinal mushrooms distributed by MykoTroph, Institut f. Ernährungs – und Pilzheilkunde.
· A copy of page 77 from Der Tintling 1(2007) with photo and text of a pious image, distributed long ago by the Catholic Church of München. You see a guardian angel using Boletus edulis and the Fly agaric to show the kids the difference between good and evil!
· “Dans les griffes du panthère” by Patrick Laurent in Spécial Champignons Magazine n° 50, dec.05 / jan. 06, pp 46 – 48. It is a popular paper about the Fly agaric and its allies. It is interesting to note that Laurent lists not less than 17 varieties of A. muscaria!
· My review of “Allons aux Champignons”, a French book for children, published in Mushroom the Journal 16/ 21 – 22, Winter 2007.
Wishing you good receipt of this documentation!
Best regards,
Tjakko Stijve
