Morel liquid culture

I cloned and started liquid cultures (with spores) of the morels from this thread: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/6763535#Post6763535

I have yet to look at the agar plates but the liquid cultures have a ton of growth. For those of you that have done lc's of morels:
-Did you start with tissue or spore?
-What kind of growth and growth rate did you observe?

Yes the growth rate is impressive, if it is indeed morel myc. It is very thin and whispy, much like the black morel myc I had on agar last year. It eventually turned darker and thickened. Right now it looks as thin as cobweb mold. I've never seen or heard of that infecting lc's though.

Wow! a very brutal method like this doesn't harm the mycelium? Peroxide couldn't damage the mycelium?

Uber: Starting an LC from spores is strategically wrong..you can't know if those spores are contamined or not so you should first germinate them on agar media then inoculate the liquid culture. In truth you should check with a microscope, before inoculing the LC, if the culture contains bacterias. In a past thread about the microscopes in this section we all and exspecially RR discuss about this..exactly how bacteria appear under the lens :smile:

Thanks for the heads up Fabio. I know its a gamble, but I have some of the tissue on agar as well. Even though the growth is whispy, it is still clumped together like my lc's of other species and the surrounding liquid is clear.

Unrefined cane sugar seemed to work well. Around 5 grams per 200-250 mL of water.

Thanks! Did a dextrose, malt extract, activated charcoal, gypsum, LC tek ala monstermitch. Hope it works!
