I doubt any of my instructors will support the idea of psychedelics involved with psychology or any other spirituality other than catholism.
And how do you balance all of that with the idea of philosophy?
What does philosophy have to do with psychedelics?
Seriously? I was in pre-med studies until psychedelics. I became a philosophy major and focused on Plato, Plotinus, and Yoga. Mysticism of Plato was a course, so was a tutorial on mysticism which used The Enneads of Plotinus and the writings of Dionysius the Areopagite (pseudo-Dionysius). Those studies led me to a reputable United Methodist seminary where I continued studies of mystical theology, psychology of religion, Jungian psychology. That in turn led me to grad school and (providentially) to the tutelage of the only Jungian analyst (my academic advisor) in the entire state of Maryland at the time. There have been plenty of incredibly important Christian philosophers.
Saint Thomas Aquinas should be the most obvious.
Gottfried Leibniz too.
George Berkeley was a Bishop.
The list goes on.

This means that his views (as being open for discussion are already kind of foxed which leaves no room for further discussion in philosophical terms. One of the main purposes of philosophy is to question everything, also many questions find their answer in other questions which become more and more complex, the final purpose of it being the progress, a better and more lucid view. Excluding from the start the efficiency of other spiritual practices as seeing them inefficient gives me the impression that his philosophy comes closer to a dogma.

Wow, when I saw this post, I didn't figure I'd only be the second person to respond in the affirmative. I suppose the guy with the masters and the year of doctoral work can't be called a major, per se, but anyhow, I'm a junior Phil major, planning on grad school and doctorate, possibly after some peace corps. Many of my classes have been ethics, which is a shame, because in the end I'm an antitheorist, and mostly believe ethics is bullshit. Taking elementary logic this semester, a generic hist. of phil. and metaphysics and epistomology next semester.

I'm writing an essay on Chomsky's review of Skinner's Verbal Behavior. The reason I made this thread is due to the fact that I have another essay assigned on Heidegger's Being and Time, a book I am somewhat confused with. I was hoping to find someone to help clear my confusion in the near future.
Perfectly reasonable. I was looking to engage in discussion myself. We both got what we neeeded out of it.
