Feeling really weird/bad after first shroom trip

Had my first shroom trip yesterday. Ate a cap and a stem at 2pm and felt nothing. Got irritated with a mild body since my buddy was in utter bliss. So being the stupid noob that I am, i ate another cap and stem at 4 something. I never hallucinated, but had a weird body high, and then anxiety kicked in and i had the worst shroom trip ever.(the bad feeling lasted until 4am until i finally fell asleep!) Im so glad its over with. BUT, its now the next day and I feel very very weird. My attention span is cut off and I cant really read letters that well. Im definitely in touch with reality and all is normal, but I just feel oddly WEIRD and out of it. I want to cry, because I feel my old self is lost and something is wrong with my brain now. Is this feeling gonna fade away? Any response is GREATLY appreciated.

P.S. Although I may be a laughingstock with this post, I just wanna let everybody know I dont advise any of you to take shrooms again, because I dont want u to take the risk of feeling how I feel now. (Stupid, weird, etc.) Im just saying that out of care for my fellow mankind.

You're probably just a little shaken up. Psychedelics are not to be take lightly. Maybe with a bid of time, you will learn something good from your trip.

The after effect is normal I think, its like a hang over. It will fade away in due time, maybe by tommorow you will be back to normal. One of my friends that's done shrooms said that it's changed him completly, as in he's more quite now, and doesn't feel like his old self.
I remember when I did a half of a half 8th , and felt really shitty. I was happy and all, but my stomach was hurting through out the whole trip, I didn't see any crazy hallucinations, just breathing walls every now and then. Then I took another half of a half 8th about 6 hours later, and it made me think of bad things, I didn't like it much, but I fell asleep 30 minutes after it.
I'd say next time you wanna trip, perhaps do more, a half 8th will def make you see breathing walls, or melting doors, crazy shit like that. An 8th would probably get you seeing things that aren't really there, but I guess it would all depend on how you prepare yourself for the trip and your mind, size.

You put a foreign chemical into your body that it has never dealt with previously. It's natural to be a little off center the day after a trip, maybe even a few.

Drink lots of water and eat well.

Like others have said, you are fine :laugh:

If you were awake from 2pm until 4am, then you may be a bit tired don't ya think?  At least for me my brain would seem to mis-fire after prolong periods of awake, especialy with some mushrooms in my system. Sleep also help you get back to your old self.

You've associated loosing yourself with being bad.

I had to lose myself to find myself.

But what your talking aboutr here is what psy drugs are all about. If you don't want to do it then don't because you can completely lose touch with your original reality map.

I'm going to take a different tack here. Let me start by agreeing that you'll be alright and it's natural to feel a little off after taking shrooms the first time. But, without knowing the exact weight, it sounds like you had 2 really low doses spread out a decent amount. If that's true you were likely only experiencing threshold effects, like those present during the come up. That's a time that can be riddled with anxiety, especially as a first timer. If you weren't comfortable, or anxious to begin with, that spells bad news. The low dose means you may not have had time to adjust or acclimate to the psychedelic state and rid yourself of the anxiety. Remember, don't underestimate the importance of set and setting. Your surroundings and state of mind prior to and during the trip have a strong bearing on the outcome of the trip. I wouldn't write them off entirely, but it sounds like you could benefit from a bit more knowledge regardless of whether you do them again or not.

Note: My basis for saying it was a low dose is my first time I had half an eighth (1.175g) of average size/potency cubensis which seem to be pretty common. That ended up being about 3-4 small/medium caps and 3 stems of varying length. That was also all at once, not spread out over 2 hours.

you seem scared of the un-known,maybe stay away until you learn from this.

Definitely should have read/known what you were doing before ingesting,and know all possibilities BEFORE. These post just put the magic earth giving tool to shamefull look because of misinformed.

That hangover feeling happened to me too. Just wait it out, smoke some herb, that helped me.

Took me 2-3 weeks to become "normal" again.

What made it a bad experience? Why did you get anxious? Were you just not in a totally positive state of mind, or what?

Also, the amount of psilocybin it would take to damage your system is not physically possible to ingest, so don't worry, you're deffinately ok.

i think its funny you took a drug that changes the way you perceive the world and now your all "ftw why am i thinking differently?". Don't take the drugs to see shit take them to learn. The effects will go away over time. could be days weeks months or years but i doubt it will be that long. I cant imagine how scared you would be if u actually tripped.

I felt really weird and depressed after my first one too.

I remember the day after, I was all depressed with a horrible headache and an upset stomach (didnt help that I had to work a double shift till 11PM)

So for the next couple days me and some buddies smoked a massive amount of weed and basically had a great weekend. After a long long sleep to finish the weekend off, I felt much better.

The first time i tripped i felt more inside my self more self awareness, so i did change some what, i also felt a little down after and i wasnt realy nervous when i took them...

No, I was in a very nervous/giddy"oh my gosh, im gonna actually do this" state of mind, and the night before, I was really tense and stressed from work. I had built up emotions. I blame nobody but myself, I knew the risks. But you guys are all making me feel really better...its been two days now, and I still feel somewhat odd, but I trust it will pass. You guys dont know how scared I was (even went to the doctor yesterday to make sure I was okay, she said to drink fluids and it will pass), and I REALLY appreciate your responses. Thank you to everyone with your helpful and encouraging comments.

Take an IQ test to get a more objective measure of any non-trivial change in your intelligence, memory, concentration & attention span.
And make a determination to never do shrooms again, or any other drugs (except possibly weed).
