Do i need a syringe? Are they spores??

Ok so im trying to grow some shrooms and i havent started yet because i havent gotten all i need yet. I have a couple questions i'd like to ask you:

1. First off i have a problem, i havent quite got a syringe and i dont really want to order one so do you think one of those medicine dropper things would work, i can get like a really long and thin one so it could be kinda like a syringe, im just not entirely sure about the sterilization part, so would it sterilize if i put a lighter under the tip of the dropper? or if not, is there any thing else i could do to sterilize it??
2. Secondly, i need spores and i think i have them but im not sure. A few months ago this guy sold me a bag of shrooms and the shrooms are gone but in the bag there is a litte brownish powder, are these spores? and would they still work or has it been too long?

Well I'm still learning too but yeah you need a spore syringe, or a print. yeah they have spores in them, It's 99% needed unless you have 100% fresh shrooms, i am experimenting with using some old shroom dust, i'll let you know how that works, i cooked Br. rice and verm in 1/2 pint jars, let cool then just dumped spores from bag/dust so not very sterile but, if don't experiment you don't learn, unless you read more off the net. ohh yeah one more thing, dude just have the syringe sent to a friends house!! duhhh

Ya man let me know how that works out, i think im gonna try it out too, that and a medicine dropper cause i dont have anything else right now, im pretty sure if i sent one to my friends house their parents would give them heat and theyd end up kicking my ass, but its an idea and i appreciate it but i just dont want to wait that long, springs coming and i just wanna get this done as fast as possible and just chill

The box you get the syringe isn't that big, no labels, name, etc. plain brown box. Unless they take it from you and open without your permission you should be good, im out  of the house so i know it's easy to say, but you should be able to get a little box if you plan on making room and growing, it only takes 4-6 weeks but someone will see something if you live at home with folks. use your brain if you have a will im sure you can find a way! peace:syringe: the best:mushroom2:

You're gonna need to do a lot of reading and get prepared.  Dumping a bag of shroom dust into a sterilized substrate is like playing russian roulette with 1 empty chamber, you're probably fucked.  Being in a hurry is one thing also that will cause you nothing but problems in this hobby. 

Read teks till you're numb
Get a pc or learn the pf tek
Order a spore syringe or print.  No question about it.
Follow teks that you've learned to the letter

Ya man don worry about me im a studied up guy i read all that pf tek stuff so many times, im just eager thats all, but i think ill be fine, just the medicine dropper worries me a little bit, but i dont see why it shouldnt work

I do. It's called contamination.

You'd be better off not doing it at all than not doing it right the first time. Go by the book. Experimentation comes later.

alright, alright but you say its called contamination but why couldnt a medicine dropper be sterilized like a syringe?

It seems to me like it would melt.

Even if it wouldn't, a medicine dropper greatly reduces your sterility levels and leaves a lot more room for something to go wrong. You'd have to use bigger holes to suck up the spores/culture, bigger holes in your pf (I'm assuming you'd use the PF tek) jars to inoculate through, you woulnd't be able to get through the layer of vermiculite and in my honest opinion, there's a 99.999 chance that you'll get a contamintation.

It would get increasingly possible after you've done it the right way a few times by going by the book, but even then I can't really see it working.

Trust me, if there were something just as good or better than syringes, you'd know about it.

Go buy a spore syringe(www.Spores101.com)there $15 and $5 for shiping you get to choose what strain you get. you can buy a 10cc syryng use it to nock up 10 jars or an LC(Mycelium culture) your in the right place to learn go to the top of the page to Mushroom info> Growmushrooms>
sit back and read up on it for a cople days. you going to need to get a large pressure cooker/canner to make jars, or pay some one else to for $60 for 12

The main problem IMO has nothing to do with the medicine dropper. Just order a spore syringe from a vendor.

You say you've been reading teks but you obviously have not really thought it all through or integrated all the knowledge yet. Read read read.

If you've got a bag of shroom dust there's no way it's not got mold spores or bacteria all over it. In a sterile environment like a PF jar you have to make sure you only get spores in there because mold and bacteria will compete for nutrients if they're exposed to such a perfect environment to grow on. You will get contamination and you will fail.

There's a reason we all go through such lengths to achieve a sterile environment for this hobby and until you can comprehend the reason for this happening I urge you to either keep reading much much more, using the search engine here, and really taking it upon yourself to study what things must happen for this to work for you. It's either that or you can give up on it.

Yea man it sucks to hear when your young and you think you got the world by the short and curlys, but seriously you would be better off just expending all your energy for the next 100 years reading post on here than you would using an eye dropper with bag dust. I'm not saying anything about your beloved eyedropper but come on if you have seriously read you should know a little about prints and shit and know that you would'nt wanna fuck with a plastic bag period when it came to a viable print (foil and jars my friend I believe RR or someone has a great print tek) again use the search engine and fire at will. Seriously if you are so content on using the old shroom dust get a good clean syringe from a vender I have not checked prices but it seemed ralph had em for like a buck a piece or something, pay the buck and get a damn syringe to put it into

ur still gonna have to order spores to put in the eyedropper and if ur ordering anyways just get a syringe. thats all there is to it. u need a syringe. maybe try going to the post office and getting ur own PO Box?

i dont want to sound like a dick but people like you are a dime a dozen. they come here, register, post a question like can i dump my bag of spores into a jar with a medicine dropper, they maybe buy a syringe...they MIGHT end up even inoculating some jars but i bet that most of them never taste the fruit of their own labor.


read forum. read the first 100 pages of threads. read all the teks. you really dont know how much you actually need to learn to do this hobby. you cant try and take shortcuts AND be succesful, and honestly your mentality seems all wrong.

again im not trying to come of as a douche but the questions you ask show no evidence of more than 20 minutes of reading max.
