While walking around campus this afternoon, for the first time in my life (since I can remember), I noticed my shadow...better yet, I felt my shadow. Upon being aware of it and acknowledging it, I got a warm feeling throughout my body (which then turned into some memories from LSD and gave me a nice good vibe for the next 5-10 mins before arriving at class).

I don't think I'll feel alone again, ever.

But onto something more philosophical. What does our shadow represent in our culture (assume US or similar)? Is the shadow an entrance or vessel into the dream world (literally or figuratively)? Is the shadow apart of the self or not? Is our shadow merely the casting of a silhouette produced by our physical bodies blocking the passage of light?

How do you perceive your shadow?

and then I realized a lot of my stresses would disappear if i payed attention to the perception of memories that come and go rather than the perception of the content of the coming and going memories

Da fuck you know NJ? EVERYONE KNOWS SHADOW MEN USED TO DRESS UP AS GNOMES. THATS SOOOOOO 19th century. THIS IS THE YEAR 2000! NOW THEY BE SHADOW MEN!

In all seriousness. I don't know anything special about shadows, don't feel anything special about them. This sums up how I feel though: our shadows are merely the casting of a silhouette produced by our physical bodies blocking the passage of light. If you don't think about the shadow and simply observe it, is the shadow any more then just a shadow? Seems to me its not. People attach value to all sorts of things though, shadows included. Thats their right, and their choice. All that matters is one owns subjective experience. If you think shadows are special somehow, then they are. But to me, they're just shadows.

If you believe the human shadow is symbolic of something. What about the shadow of a cat ? or a rock ? could the fact that even a rock has a shadow make the human shadow just as worthless as that of a rock ? HMMMMM interestiong thought I must say

I always assumed it was simply an opaque object causing light to be blocked that caused a shadow... who knew?
