What to do with stalled jars?
    #648366 - 05/27/02 04:52 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

Afoaf has some jars of b+ and eq's that have been incubating for about 21 days. He's been checking for growth in the past week and it seems to have stopped at about half way up the jar.... The mycelium next to the uncolinized bird seed is weaker looking(its not as white and puffy) than the mycelium on the bottom of the jar. He thinks maybe the jar is dried out, since its looks dry. He's not sure because there are little tiny water droplets near the bottom of the jar....He's also heard that bacteria usualy has these signs(a culture will stop producing)

He would like to get an opinion on what it might be, and how to effectivley fix it before its to late. Also, is there anyway to check for bacteria infection with out ruining everything?? BTW there are no signs of contamination.

prolly contams or dry jar, but maybe just flip it over? Sometimes it gets too much CO2 in the jar....turn it on the cap and loosen it a little. Hope you put a thick verm layer. The water should be absorbed back in. Good luck!
