Semantics.

Not really. "Support the soldiers" has come to mean "Support the soldiers and the war they are fighting".

As I said, I don't support violence in any form. Therefore I don't support soldiers. I support all people as far as that they are all creations of intelligence which have limitless potential, far beyond the "potential" that the various militaries offer to them.

That's not even close to semantics.

However, I suspect that I do support the Iraq War on the ideaological level. The actions carried out via Saddam Hussein inflicted a lot of suffering on fellow human beings. I think that there could have been an effective way of taking action in order to assist other individuals without creating the undesireable situation that is currently occuring.

You think Sadaam gassed those people last year or something?

The war is all about trying to install a permanant American presence in the middle east where we are not wanted, it has nothing to do with Sadaam's nerve gas shit, we've known about that for fucking decades, and we supported him then.

Yeah I know what you meant.

You teeter dangerously close to supporting facism though to even roll that stupid "support the soldiers" catch-phrase across the tongue.

kthxbye

so the rape and murder of innocent civilian non-combatants in addition to
'militia' that are just defending their way of life should balance out the
killings that saddam did more than 20 years ago in yet another war against a
country called Iran?

I suppose now someone should justifiably invade the US looking for the WMDs and
biological agents that we do in fact possess, arrest and bring to trial our
president for the purpose of execution while killing our families?

or in other words... do two wrongs make a right?

Dude, I don't care if you don't believe me. Your life is your fight.

You believe in catch-phrases?

"War on Drugs"(obedience)
"War on Terror"(smokescreen)
"Support the troops" (compliance)
"The war in iraq" (murder)

How about "No blood for fucking oil"?

I guarantee they'd rather be home, too.

That's just as nonsensical as the rest of the catchphrases you listed. The oil is still not ours even after the invasion and occupation of Iraq.

I don't have a "view of the way things should be". I do have a remarkably clear view of how things shouldn't be though, just by taking a look around.

Sure it is. It's just that we're willing to still pay money for it.

And even that's most likely just so that Russia and China don't fear us too much and nuke us.

We would still have enough oil whether or not Iraq decided to sell to us. They sell us such a minuscule amount that it's absurd to think that we went to war ro secure such a tiny amount.

Re: Do you support the Iraq War? [Re: Redstorm]

The idea of us installing a permanant U.S. presence in Iraq isn't just because of iraq's oil. Like, we didn't go there to gank iraq for their oil.

It's because we hope to be able to influence everything going on in the middle east from now on and therefore prevent anyone else from taking over the middle east and fucking us by shutting off the oil or fucking up all the oilfields, whatever.

In the past we attempted this through supporting certain leaders, such as shah of Iran, and yes, Sadaam Hussein. We lost the Shah, and now we have toppled Sadaam, so we chose a more direct approach.
