Stress, Anxiety, Insecurity.. Depression?
    #6383746 -

Hey everyone,i don't know how to begin to explain my issues(s), but i would really appreciate if you could hear me out..i know there are alot of good people here who could really give me a helping hand.

Right now I don't know whats going on in my head. Lately i have been thinking about taking up anti-depressants or some kind of stress relive. I dont like the idea of being medicated but it seems the only/right option. I hear alot about some anti-depressants having undesired affects, rather making the user "numb" then happy and enjoying what life has to give. I'm not saying im depressed as such, i just have my good week always followed by a bad. At time I get easily irritated, jealous and childish. Inside i know im a good, honest, understanding person but other times i hate myself, i can be such an ass.

Issuse 1.
My girlfriend, shes great and only aims to please (although, as with everyone, she can be an ass too). But lately,no actually, for some time now, I'm a dick. I get really tedious, jealous and insecure. She's away at UNI and i try to see her when ever i can, every weekend, but now she has gotten herself a bar job, on top of another. Which means she'll be working shitty hours and ill never get much time to see her. Which i find is kind of selfish of me, she only trying to earn money for us, and i acted real pety, childish and couldn't be happy for her. Its just i spend alot of money and my time to see her, and she goes gets a job which means i wont see her much anymore, which makes me feel kinda 2nd rate. Thats just one example of my behaviour, but i think its down to being unhappy, i mean, when im happy, i don't care if she has a job, good for her, we can work around it. But other times i wind myself up so much i just push her away.

Issue 2
This is kind of a weird one, every time/most times my body temperature rises/sweats i get a prickly sensation all over my body and around my feet, sometimes its agonizing. Example would be when i ran the other day, i had to stop because the pain was unbearable. I went to doc. and he says it adrenaline/anxiety related, gave me a blood test and told me to come back if the problem persists and he will give me medication to help the problem, I'm guessing this would be an anti-anxiety med.

Issue 3
This doesn't happen always but occasionally, when i walk into a crowded place, or the thought of going on a night on around town, i get real anxious, to the point i involuntary cough till vomit.

In summery, I'm presuming i have some anxiety disorder linked in with depression. This is effecting my mood and how i act towards myself and others. I don't like acting cold and heartless, its just how i feel inside and i always feel better after a beer, it just seems to take away the bitterness inside of me, and i can love again.

I'm thinking about going on meds, such as an anti-anxiety, maybe that will help my moods and hopefully life a happier existence. But on the other hand there's anti-depressants. I wouldn't call my self "depressed" i mean, im quite a layed back person, but i do think i should/could be happier.

Advice much appreciated.

Peace,
Mushie Man

yeah, definately an anxiety/panic disorder tied in with some specific social anxiety as well... (just my 2 cents im no doctor)

i used to have very similar anxiety problems to the point where i would think that i was having a heart attack/pains/etc...

im not sure how i got over it, for years i was on all sorts of medications and perscriptions.

eventually i stopped taking all of them (a few years back), and started smoking weed regularly instead.

im not sure if it jsut went away on its own, or i grew out of it, but im alot better now than i was before.

thosee medications can help, but in reality they should only be used for a short period of time untill you can learn to deal with your anxiety on your own.

Shroomery Topic

Read my post(s) in the thread that the link above takes you to. I am not sure what you would think of it, but seeing as how you are on Shroomery I will assume you are open minded and/or spiritual. Do consider it. I believe that it is the cause of my new found 'go get 'em-ness' in life (though of course it could be a placebo effect).

All the best.

Wow, its amazing to hear your description and feel that you are fighting the same stubborn demons that once plagued my waking life as well. The only bit of advice i can offer you is that you should not count on these medications (namely the anti-depressants)to be your "end-all-cure-all". They are good at doing what they're advertised to do, but it is only a short term fix in the sense that they only mask youre unresolved problems. When and if you would decide to quit for whatever reason( which is damn hard by the way- please read the withdrawal stories!!) you're problems could very well pick up where they left off...
I am no doctor but i encourage you discuss these things with him. It seems so easy for doctors to hear your life story and immediately prescribe you a drug that will for sure fix the problem in the short run, but do you really want to rely on a pill to make you happy forever?
Not to scare you off mushie man, these medications can truly be a blessing if called for, but they can also be an extreme overkill with a tendency to be hard to go without once you're going.
find the root of depression and see what 'you' can do about it first.
hang in there bro

yeah i agree with foxyhotme. I recently started takin celexa and made my body feel good but my thought process didn't change a bit.

i think the best thing to do is learn about yourself or goto someone who has a good understanding of human nature. theyll be able to help you understand what you are going through which definatly is the start to help curing any emotional problem. looking into the past helps because your past has developed your patterns of behavior/thought and often times anxiety is a way of your body telling you that its time to change and go deeper in your understanding of the world. its tough, ive been though it, but when you get to the other side you realize how worth it all that pain was because you come out a smarter and better person.

Give L-tryptophan a try first, before you decide to go on anti-depressants. If you can’t find it, 5-htp might a good option too. It’s an OTC supplement and works very well for both depression and anxiety issues.

Good luck and give yourself time, bro! You will make it.

Not true that these supps work "very well" they hardly ever work to any degree. I have lots of experience with selling them for many years.

Depression is an emotional/spiritual problem IMO.

I know exactly what you mean with that prickly feeling at your feet. I usally get it when I'm talking to someone I don't know or when I'm trying to do somthing thati need to concentrate on yet Im trying to rush through it. When exactly do you get that feeling in your feet?

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies.

Since my last visit to the shroomery things have got worse. Its not the stress or anxiety its more the tinglyness. It is now at the point it it physically painful and is effecting my sex life, sometimes/majority of times i have to stop because the pain get so bad its unbearable.

The only thing i can put this down to is drugs, mainly amphetamines. The tingly sensation only seems to happen when certain chemicals/endorphins get released. Its a long shot but it could be that i have damaged my pleasure receptors in some way. I have decided to quit drugs, to reduce paranoia/stress/mental insecurity.

But please, i really need help on this one, my girlfriend isn't impressed in the slightest, if i have to live with getting physical pain/discomfort during sex, for the rest of my life, id rather just end it now lol.

I'm going to go back to the doc. see if he will give me some anti stress medication. I feel in some way that might help. Who knows?

Peace,
Mushie Man

the prickly feeling is you blood pressure. it is very high when you get that prickly feeling.

i cant go in hot tubs anymore because of it. i use to use a hot tub for physical therapy and i told my Doctor about the prickly feeling and he told me it is blood pressure and not to use one any more.

Thanks for the reply royer9864, that makes total sense. The prickly sensations also start when in a hot bath, i mean it doesn't even have to be that hot, just enough so i start to sweat.

Ill talk to my doctor about something that can keep my blood pressure stabilized.

Peace,
Mushie Man
