*Danny (the drummer 4 TOOL) recommended that One should study,
the basics of Ritual Magic(k) and the schematic of Solomon's temple,
to properly protect One's Self, before LisTening to Lateralus on a Psychedelic...
.
this CD is definitely something Other than "entertainment"
the ultimate agenda of the Reptilian Mind remains 2 be seen...
If you enter into the Labyrinth, at least get 2 gno the LBRP!!!

I used to jamm with a singer (a good one) that was the world's biggest tool fan... I mean Tool was all that he wanted to talk about.
I'm sorry, Tool just isnt music too me. I really tried to get into there shit, but it all sounds like a bunch off radio freq.'s dials being randomly turned too me....
I hope a nay-sayer is wellcomed to voice his opinion.
Take care!

aphex twin makes electronic music... he is one of those types that rides the line between genius and insane. Some of his music is simply beautiful, and a lot of it sounds like he just took a glass of water and poored it on his equipment... crazy frequencies going way out of control. (i love it all) interesting stuff

>and a lot of it sounds like he just took a glass of water and poored it on his equipment<
He is verry experimental... I remember once seing him live and his "machine" he brought had a thousand plugs just screwed into wood in th badk facing the audience, he had christmas lights rinning through miles of wire that really didn plug into anything he just like the way Lots and lots of wires made his"machine" look cool.
Then I got to see the Machine. He had two turntables, a mixer, a computer and lap top, a few regular sequencers and synths but the rest of it was hand made hy Richard himself, all with big dials and switches and lights. He played on it like a god and it was truely one of the best live sets Ive ever heard. Not even Rabbit in the Moon or Moby could compare.
Did you know that the guy "aphex twin" is a mathematical genius"? He writes algorythems for computer music softwhere and comes up with new ways of creating sound with mathematics.. In an interview he said something like he can just see this stuff and when the numbers match in his head he knows hes got something...

I Like Tool, in small doses, and NOT while tripping. Being a Student in Western Magickal Practices, I have not discerned any Hidden meanings in the music, although I was nto looking for any! I guess I like my music more 'sexy' than scary when I embark on a Journey. Aphex Twin, however REALLY scares me. I only hear the water on the equipment part. But, to each his own. I'd much rather be in a room where Tool was playing, than N'Sink or any of the other Flavor of the Month stuff is. -OoD

I love TOOL's music I believe they are one of the most talented bands ever. BUT I DO NOT like them while trippping. Way very much angry and intense music while in an altered state. Put me and my friend into a very weird place. Driving, trapped in the machine with weird babies crying. freaked us both out. We only listened to aenema. then we switched to lighter shit and it got better. wasnt a bad trip just made it kinda scary for a while. But Lateralus might be better. it isnt as scary maybe even on a higher mental plane than the earlier stuff. Ill have to give it a try. But nothing beats good old Pink Floyd!!!! Postalboy

I have to weigh in on this...I totally dig Tool while tripping...for me...it is the ideal "space" to start my trip in. Lateralus is an extremely spiritual experience. If you don't think so...sit back and watch the video for Parabola!!! BUT..I really want to ask you guys something...
Can anyone else hear the clicking in Aenima? What 's strange is I can hear it VERY clearly when I'm tripping but otherwise I either can't hear it, ignore it or something...but it's very weird. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about..I'm really NOT crazy ...well..maybe a little

TOOL's last two albums are loaded with subliminal dialogs and incantations...
they are not subliminal by being backwards or quiet,
but are embedded into the phase matrix, like several images in a hologram.
Mind is able to decode such interference patterns easily when there is Synaptic Coherence (yoga, tantra, tripping etc.)
the genious behind TOOL's sound is David Bottrill,
the Producer/Engineer on Aenima and Lateralus,
(IMO the greatest audio engineer on the planet)
he probably has access to some Intense Pro Tools plug-ins...
not to mention the Hardware they are using @ Ocean Way.
i'm not sure, but i think i hear binaural beats on Lateralus,
and i certainly feel the effects of brain wave entrainment,
but only when wearing Headphones...
Anyway,
the clicking you hear is probably a scratch on the disk,
or it could be the ball point pen MJK plays on one of Aenima's tracks...
who nose?
for an excellent example of phase shift genius,
eat 5dg and listen to this album on headphones...
Forest For The Trees is on the opposite end of the spectrum from TOOL,
but just as innovative, intense, and beautiful...
it's Technicolour Trip-Hop Hippy-Rock Organic-Electronica
with droning, harmonious lyrics that seem to be a narrative of the Ecstatic Experience.
me thinks you like.

Very cool. I have to agree with the binaural beats on Lateralus. I've been working with them in a program called Brainwave generator(posted in another thread) and I'm pretty sure using headphones anyone should be able to hear it if they are familiar with Bi. beats.Mind you ,I'm no expert, but I ,too, get some "pull" from it.
The clicking, however, was present on a brand new CD that a friend had as well...I compared the two and it's definitely there. I need to map the tracks I hear it in and post the info so you can check it out. But like I stated...most of the time I only hear it when tripping. I suppose it could be a strange psychosis that begins with the familiar sound patterns in their music. * shrug*..I dunno
Thanx for the tip..I'll check out the Forest For The Trees and let ya know what I think.
BTW..I rave about this track, but it's got a phenomenal feel to it...have you heard the live Salival version of Pushit yet??
Awesome!!! Wish I'd been at the show to experience that one!!
