All my WBS jars got cobweb 3-4 days after innoc. (PICS)
    #6183254 -

Instead of where the myc should show up, cobweb does instead.....and its now day 5 and its spread like crazy. In pint jars, WBS, PC'd for hour, cleaned WBS pretty good...let strain for hour. simmered 15 mins. soaked 24 hours. Im mad.

Are you absolutely sure it's cobweb? The reason I'm asking is that I find myself in a very similar situation. I inoculated 17 half-pint jars and thought they were ALL contaminated. Two were; they looked like someone set off smokebombs inside them, but the others appear to be colonizing nicely. What began as a very fine, wispy growth has stayed confined to the injection sites and is beginning to thicken and radiate. It's too soon to say, but I think these will make it.
Does anyone know if very early growth can sometimes appear thin?

Heres 2 of the jars...definatly could look like myc but its definatly spreading at the rate cobweb would and if you look closly, its really thin strands, not ropey. I would just like to know what I did wrong so I dont waste any more syringe juice
thank you.

I would wait it out just to be sure. If the other side of WBS doesn't colonize within the next 2 weeks, then throw it out. Could be that WBS is still too wet.

Cobweb is probably the most easily killed mold, it shouldn't survive the PC. Detail step by step of what you did. Your original post sounds like you PC'd first and then soaked... which isn't right.

That's not cobweb. Molds are killed by temperatures far below boiling, so an hour in the pc would have killed molds and their spores, although I recommend 90 minutes for quart jars of grains to take care of bacteria. Were you sick the day you inoculated?

Whatever that is, it was introduced when you inoculated. It's not your jar steriliztion process.

Hmm nope wasnt sick that day....I used brand new syringes and needles...No I didnt PC then soak and simmer  I cleaned, soaked overnight, simmered 20 mins, PCed for an hour, then shot up the next day. Could it be that my temps are too high in the inncubator? Ive been using just a bin with a heat flan blowing on it, (which worked wonderfully for my past grow) but I just had to make room for my casings  and put the jars too near the edge of the bin wheres its a bit hotter (but shouldnt have been too bad becuase I keep my thermometer next to edge to make sure)....couldnt have gone any hotter then 93 TOPS. Hmmm other then that, half my jars are tyvek and my other half are tyvek/polyfil...they all got affected. one syringe is burma and other is texas. and theyre in pints not quarts.

:frown:

Another thing is...I have casings also in the same incubator...should I just toss the jars? Just bought some new bird seed anyway

Yet another reason why they might be cobweebing....I incubated them the same time I started incubating my casings...causing high humidity in the incubator...think ill take the lid off

High humidity does not cause cobweb. Mold spores cause cobweb.

Like RR said, you infected your jars during inoculation.
