Moldy weed dilemma

Hi all,

A close friend of mine has a problem. He recently bought marijuana from a guy he just met. He doesn't normally purchase marijuana, but he lost his job and needs a new opportunity. Anyways, this guy is a good dude, and the herb he bought is really good, but was sprayed by his sketchy-ass dealer to make it seem heavier. SWIM bought a bag and it got moldy in a few days. Anyways, swim is going to be reimbursed by his friend if he can find out a way to prevent any mold from forming on the rest of the bud.

Right now, this guy stores it in an airtight container, inside of another airtight container, in a refrigerator. None of that weed is moldy. However, after buying the weed and leaving the bags out, this stuff gets moldy fast (three days or so).

Now, with my background, I was thinking that either desiccating the stuff, or maybe pressure cooking it, would be the best bet. Does anyone have any suggestions? I remember hearing some stoner dogg talking about microwaving his wet herb, but that sounds like a pipe dream. So what should I tell this dude?

All suggestions appreciated.

I have no idea. Hell maybe the grass will turn psychedelic. Whats with your jabbering about "SWIM"? No need to be paranoid about narcotic agents here. We're too powerful for swine.

Not sure if theres anything you can do about the already moldy stuff, but in future bags, don't buy from a shady dude, thats bullshit if he's spraying it. and if you ever get a "damp" bag stick a small carrot, or apple peels in the bag to absorb moisture...

Move it all to the freezer.

It might make the weed taste a little bit funky when smoked (similar to how mushrooms turn into "mush" in the freezer), but it should completely and totally prevent further mold growth.

Mold can't grow at freezing temperatures, so there shouldn't be a problem. Of course, that just stops the mold from growing, but it doens't kill it completely, so if you ever take it out of the freezer for a prolonged period, the mold can start up again.

First and foremost, thanks for all the help so far.

Sorry for the swim stuff, but this is honestly about another dude. I'm only getting a replacement bag if I figure out a way to keep my friend's bud from getting moldy when it gets into the hands of his customers.

He has it in the freezer of his fridge (I think). I'll tell him to put it there if it isn't already. What he really needs though is a way to keep it from going moldy when it makes its way to other peoples. He just lost his job and he really can't afford to take a loss on this bag, so he's stressin like you wouldn't believe.

Anyways, smoking moldy weed is mad dangerous, so don't ever do it, btw. I found another thread where someone claims that if you PC moldy herb the "THC will be dead".

Pressure cooking would only kill current spores anyways, and with this stuff as wet as it is, it will likely be re-infected soon. All I can think to do would be to desiccate it and take the loss on the lost wet weight. Does anyone have any better suggestions?

maybe instead of a desiccant a food dehydrator, i would imagine drying any kind of bulk with desiccant would take some time. i dont know but as i said i vote dry it out, just dont make it to dry.

Would a food dehydrator have the same problems? Some dehydrators have heat-less drying and such.

i would just set it on top of a bookcase or somewhere in room temp air outside of a bag, it should dry within an evening. If i were to get damp bud, i set it on my vcr overnight, and it is dry as it can get in the morning.

Calcium Chloride is sold as road salt.

It is what they use in organic chem labs to desiccate shit.

First you need to dry it.

Get some road salt (check the label, make sure it's calcium chloride), bake it on aluminum foil at like, 200 degrees for a while to get all the water vapor out.

Then put it in the bottom of an airtight jar (wal mart sells em cheap), put some papertowels over them, put the weed on top. seal, putting some vaseline on the rubber seals to make damn sure it's closed tight. Wait.

You could try to water cure it... if its already wet and moldy, a good water cure should take care of the problem,it will stop more mold from growing on it and it might wash off the mold thats already on there. Just change the water frequently, sure you'll lose weight but it will be more potent. A small amount of h202 might help with mold, but I don't know how that would affect the THC.
