 Questions about your toilet paper...I have a dilemma

Okay, my husband and I seem to run out of toilet paper in our bathroom extraordinarily quickly. I have no idea why this is, because we go to the bathroom in normal amounts, as far as I know, and he doesn't use a ton of the toilet paper, and neither do I.
So I've come to the conclusion that our brand of toilet paper just isn't doing the job anymore. I mean, between the two of us we use about one roll a day. Is that normal?
Our brand is Cottonell. So my question is, what brand of toilet paper do you use and how often does your household need to replace it?

With 4 people in our house we go through toilet paper slower than that 
Probably a pack every 2 or three days. keep in mind we have 2 toilets so it probably equates to around 1.5 packs a day, between 4 people.
We use Quilton toilet paper I think... Though none of the unused rolls are in a pack and they're all with different designs. Only one of them had a brand name printed inside the roll. I don't buy the stuff myself.

Damn you and your husband are toilet paper maniacs. I go through maybe a roll a week. And as far as brand I just buy what's cheap but not sandpaper cheap ya know?

cottonelle is the shit, better than charmin. a singe roll lasts me and my roommate (both males, mind you) about a month so I have no idea why just the two of you use so much. My only guess is that your cottonelle is so soft it that feels so good to wipe your ass that you just wipe like mad. I dont buy cottonelle though cause its so expensive, and its just toilet paper.

We use the cheap stuff that I wouldnnt be suprised if there were still chips of wood in the shit. It works you just have to use more of it so you dont get poo fingers.

get the triple roll toilet paper, its a bit more pricey but worth it..also you might be using to much to wipe with. 1-2 squares for a small female leak you can actually make work

Well, that could have something to do with it. I just want to make sure that I get "it" all, you know? So I'm probably the one who's using more then their fair share for ass wiping. I mean, I'm not trying to be wasteful, I just want to make sure that my lower extremities are kept clean and tidy. But it's reached insane levels if we are going through a roll a day!
What should I do? How do I stop the wiping-addiction so that I don't have to keep going out and buying more toilet paper every few days? How do I conserve my wipes?

Marcal or Scotts is what we use. They last longest because there is like 1,000 sheets per roll. Those other brands like Charmin and Cottonelle last like 30 seconds in our house.

*warning! strange discussion follows this!* 
okay, im going to get into the details of a discussion a friend and I had the other day. Somehow we got on the subject of taking craps and...he asked me if when i do it "do I clip the turds off" by clenching the muscles in your ass while doing your business.... So we both found out that we both do that, and i asked him "dude, does it seem to take an absurd amount of toilet paper for you?" His answer was "dear god yes!." Well my next trip to the bathroom i decided to try it without the clipping method described above (NCAA is our society...national clipping of ass association) and let me tell you, i've raised my productivity and minimized downtime by a lot doing this. Saving more on toilet paper than ever!

We use the cheap stuff and oh boy does it suck at first, but it eventually gets bareable. Ya'll ever heard the trick on the shitters survival kit, It consists of one piece of toilet paper; what you do is fold it in half then half once again then tear a small piece of the corner as to allow your finger to fit through the middle of the one square, after you've suscessfully wiped the ass you take the remaining piece and clean the shit from underneath your fingernails.

Excellent. I've just vented about this to a friend, and now i have a chance to do it here.
WTF is wrong with you people. "Cottonelle"? "Charmin"? "Silky whatever"???
TRIPLE PLY?? i personaly HATE thick, soft, towel density TP. But thats personal opinion, so i'll stick to technicality.
You are wiping your ass ok. You are not wiping your 'sensitive' face, you are not cleaning a wound, you are wiping SHIT. Off your ASSHOLE. (am i being crude yet?) This irks me to no end. Some people on this planet think a toilet is for 'rich' people, and you need triple ply 'cottonelle'?
I've had some cheap TP before, and yeah, its pretty bad. (no perferations, so you rip where you want, it went from 1 ply to 3 ply in the course of one roll, and in between there were creases and such....it came in a plain cardboard box.)
So, some conclusions:
-single ply is the money saver, and lasts forever. Why do you think high traffic industries (such as movie theathers) have those huge rolls? I had one large roll last 2 of us litteraly 2 weeks minimum. And the other person uses a lot. Just fold a bit more.
-Triple ply is a waste. I dont care who you are. When i come across it, even i waste, and i try to be efficient with these things. Its hard NOT to.
-Triple ply lasts 2 seconds because the damn paper is so thick, that entire roll is done in 2 spins.
-cheap brand, 2 ply, 24 roll 6 bux......sissy brand, 3ply, 12 roll, 8 bucks. Do the math.
So, the most efficient thing to do?
Buy 'no name brand' TP, such as 'equality' or whatever. Every large chain has their own 'brand' of cheap TP. This stuff is 2 ply, and is good enough. When you get to wiping, FOLD, dont 'scrunch'. I find that mostly the girls 'scrunch'. I dont see how this works, as you waste a shitload, and the surface area of the wiping isnt that great anyway. (but im a guy, so logic reigns.....im sure girls dont think about making ass wiping more efficient all day)

I find that girls do a lot of this too........treating the TP as if it was a fishing rod or something. They grab the end with one hand, and pull away at the roll with the other to full arms reach, even letting it roll a little so the TP sags a bit down. This is usualy followed by the scrunching. I should coin a term for this annoying habit. "swing and scrunch" How does that sound.
Try this. With the cheapy 2 ply, take about a foot's worth, and fold it up (2 times), this should give you a rectangle of squarish sorts. Now wipe away. If youre really into saving, fold that shit in half, and wipe again.
There is my rant.
Stop buying stupid expensive towels to wipe your ass with please. I'm starting to feel almost deserving for the attacks by these angry leaf using terrorists.

If the toilet paper issue is really hurting your budget or you need to keep costs down then find cheap recycled toilet paper but if this is not the case and your just trying to keep the use down.........then i say forget it just keep on a using. Its just toilet paper...i mean use all u need but however if what i stated earlier is true then get new toilet paper

anyway.... my dad works for a papermill and they make the store-brand TP and papertowels. they have cases upon cases of that stuff up their attic. When I need TP and paper towels i don't goto the store. I just go pick up a fuckin case of it from my dad.

Nah, I don't think thats it because whenever he's home, we're always together.
Like I said, it's probably my fault. I'll probably start buying the X-brand of toilet paper though, and maybe it'll last longer. I also can't believe this thread has lasted as long as it has!

Toliet paper is very important in our lives, obviously!
I think it was Gary Snyder who once commented upon toilet paper (it is somewhere in The Dharma Bums) saying that he thought it was funny how nobody used water to wipe their bums after finishing up. Everybody is so concerned with being clean and proper, and they are all walking around with little bits of poo on their bums!
Seriously just take your shower head and give it a quick rinse when you are finished... that'll save toliet paper!

Actually, I think it's my pissing rather then shitting that is using up the toilet paper. I have an incredibly small bladder and I *think* I pee more then the average person. Plus I drink alot of water and tea, so that makes me pee even more. It's really annoying. But at least I'm well-hydrated.

well that would work or you could go around stealing toilet paper from restaurants and other places and stock pile off them

man i dont see how tis possible to use that much TP. I dont and i just tkae the damn roll and yank it then roll what came off over my hand and wipe. But i only shit like once a day if that.

Because of a tiolet paper discussion in my house I looked this thread up.
this is the issue:
On my floor live 3 people. One of them is me and there's 2 other girls. Now we all buy a new pack when it's our turn but I've noticed that the 3 of us use a roll per day! I definately don't use 1/3 roll a day so i said I'm not participating anymore in the tiolet paper thing. It's not that it's expensive, but it's about principles.

You shoud really invest in a bidet...They make models that will go on a toilet so you dont have to chip up the floor to add another drain.
It may be pricey but in the end(bad pun sorry) you'll love it
I have this one in our master bathroom, we didn't want to make extra room for a seperate bidet.

I so agree. I hate that kind of tp that leave "dust" all over, it drives me crazy! I buy mine in bulk at costco, it is the thin kind that doesn't dust your ass with teeny pieces of fluffy paper. I have a lot of people in and out of my house all the time so it doesn't last forever, but I try not to use a ton. I have to remember it came from trees and try to conserve. I do make sure to keep everything nice and clean though!
