I say with moderation, you SHOULD be fine, but everyone's body works differently, and some people are just more prone to addiction than others. Anything can be addictive, marijuana included.

Pot is somewhat less mentally addictive than sugar. I really don't see how you could call pot addictive when you say you have experienced speed balls. When i smoke pot regularly, i have a life and i also smoke pot. When i do heroin/blow regularly, i do heroin/blow and then theres everything else.

Having a strong affinity to do something, something that you can do often if you want does mean you have an addiction. For an addiction, i would say the drug must surpass all of Maslow's heirarchy of needs.

"For an addiction, i would say the drug must surpass all of Maslow's heirarchy of needs."

i.e. Going without food, sleep etc.

I have seen that with hard drugs, but NEVER Cannabis.

For me, the biggest reason to look at bud as better than thinks like coke/meth is that no one dies from bud

The high effects everyone differently. I particularly enjoy it and smoke every day, when possible. I don't have an ounce of fat on me, and I have a full-time job. You are right that bud is mentally addictive, and I have had many friends who were quite severely mentally addicted to it. Mental addiction is just a question of will power, though. If I go a day (or days) without a toke, I don't go crazy or have withdrawl...but I do wish I had some. I don't find that to be a problem as long as it doesn't interfere with my life.

Also: my mind does wonderously funny (to me) things while I'm high (and yes, it IS a high). I happen to enjoy being mellowed out, with a nice body buzz and a mind in the clouds.

all of you people are missing a very important reason for the pothead to regular pot user ratio. marijuana is illegal and because of that fact people have to search it out or are offered it by people that have. people that are willing to go out and find it and break the law are more likely to be the type to abuse it. When prohibition came into effect early last century most people stopped drinking. except those who liked to abuse it or simply weren't afraid of the law. pointing out that a relatively high percentage of people who use weed tend to abuse it sometimes or even all the time is just like those in the 20's who said "look everyone who drinks is an alcoholic!". the problem with that is that most people who didn't abuse it just didn't drink at all so it seemed that who ever drank had to be an alcoholic. if you legalized marijuana there would be millions of more people that just used it occasionally in social settings, like once or twice a month, just like most people drink today because it is legal. making something illegal just causes those who aren't prone to abuse it to stop, leaving those who abuse it due to lack of mental maturity and those who enjoy it occasionally because they realize it shouldn't be illegal. This is what causes the misconception that marijuana is so addictive.

also I enjoy weed on occasion. its fun and harmless to those with a sound mind. and I think my earlier post should help some people see things from a different perspective.

Weed is a much better drug than cocaine, and while lots of pot smokers are lazy, junk food eating losers, there are plenty of active, intelligent pot smokers as well. I steer clear of cocaine, ecstacy, and meth because I'm disturbed by the idea of REAL brain damage, or dying of a heart attack, or psychosis. Heroin, I avoid because it is a real addiction, sure it's false to say that pot is not addictive, but if you've ever known a real heroin addict, you'd know how ridiculous it is to compare the two.

I've done cocaine, ecstasy, and a variety of opiates in my life, and I don't regret it. There might even be certain circumstances where I'd do them again. But the people I know who regularly do these drugs tend to be far less healthy than the regular pot smokers I know. I run and bike on a daily basis, and I go to work and school, and eat a relatively healthy diet. I also smoke a lot of weed. I have quite a few friends who are the same way. I've known plenty of fat, lazy people who won't touch weed. I think some people smoke weed as an excuse to be lazy, because they're naturally lazy people.

You can enjoy whatever drugs you like, but don't give me a bunch of shit about how terrible weed is, just so you can justify the guilt you feel for doing lots of coke and e.
