Possible new Pub policy?

Just looking to see how others feel about this idea.

Why not implement a policy where mods must check with a person whom which they consider to be under the attack of "verbal flaming" to see if the individual is truly offended by the statements made against them? That is if the user thought to be being flamed hasn't already hit the notify mod/admin button.

A lot of the times (especially with the late night crowd who are much more laid back and open to busting balls [don't take that wrong, a lot of the day crowd are cool as well but there seem to be more people around during the day who get extremely butt hurt]) these "flames" are really all in good fun and nobody is truly offended by them.

Why not even make the rules more flexible after a certain time of the night? Kind of like how they play more graphic shit on cable TV after midnight when all of the kids are tucked in safe. :wink:

This would alleviate a lot of the problems with "judgement calls" by moderators that we've all seen brought up so many times over the past couple years.

doesnt bother me one bit, no matter the time of day. i think alot of people here need to chill the fuck out and not take things so seriously. but that will never happen. i like the idea.

thats seems so basic that only someone who is completely up there ass wouldn't recognize it,as a pretty damn smart thing to do,hah..


although i have this strange feeling some of said people may just say somthing alogn the lines of "a flame in the pub is a flame in the pub",or some similar minded whathaveyou...

I got banned for saying something that the person posted after in the same joking fashion.

He knew I was joking; however the whole "I'm going to get the iron fist and show u what's up" attitude overtakes simple logic.

I agree, a lot of us that hang around at night (myself included) don't tend to take shit so seriously.. without being able to fuck around occasionally it's not as fun. It can become very boring and lack humor.

My views are probably different than some of the other pub mods, I don't go banning people constantly for flaming. Would rather only do that if they continue to flame/troll multiple times or if it becomes a problem. If I see something that looks bad, I might even edit a post and PM the user, asking them to chill out instead of getting all ban happy. I only use bans as a last resort, when it absolutely has to be done..

Doesn't usually matter what I think though because there are 13 mods and if I try to let something questionable go, someone else could just come along and deal with it later anyways. :shrug:

well not everyone can be as cool as you eris.. you rock.. pretty much everyone thats part of LNC is cool as fuck.. and other people just need to learn to be more laid back.. i thought that was the whole point of the pub.. was the laid back hippies of this place

I see an issue presenting itself when
1) The user being messaged ignores the message
2) In the interest of playful "breaking of balls", the user replies it's indeed a flame
3) Somebody cries "Mod Bias" and "Double Standard"

You guys have the #LNC chatroom, where the only "moderating" comes from yourselves, and there's OTD where the banter can swing for the ropes with no harm or foul.

1) if a user is too out of it to not notice a message, then they must either not care or be too uptight/butt hurt to bother replying to that message.

2) if you cant take a joke, take a fucking chill pill or go post elsewhere.

3) whoever tries to do that is a drama queen. :gayflag:

I think if this was the actual offical position, nobody would have a problem with it. I mean, that sounds incredibly reasonable.

I think alot of people are just angry with a certain un-named mod basically saying that your fun is over and any negative comment that he considers to be "not-a-joke" will be met with the biggest ban he can mete out. Thats a pretty shitty attitude.
