Isn't it just awful?
My roommate plays it all the damn time and it's all about the same shit "I got more Gs than U nigga" "Nigga I'm the fucking man" "Shit niggas I got mad bitches"
And to top it off none of them even make the music they "rap" to.
I hope it's just a latest craze and dies out soon.
I hate it when my friends go "Why don't you like black music if you're black" and that shit ain't black music
Fuck gimme some soul/R&B/Rock (the real talented black people) over this shit.
Oh and this rant is inspired by my roomie who's playin Lil Jon now
Time to go listen to some Pink Floyd and Donny Hathaway to get this shit out my head.

There's some good underground stuff out there. Mos Def, Jurassic 5, Talib Kweli. Of course, some of that stuff can get too afrocentric sometimes. But there is some good stuff. There's also some great hip hop/trip hop dj's out there, like DJ Shadow, DJ Spooky, or DJ Krush.

e.1999 eternal came out in '95(i think.. ) i wouldn't touch anything that came out after that. seem's like most rappers put out a few good albums when they first come out, then turn to shit. hip hop, on the otherhand...

In the late eighties to the mid 90's, rap was unique and from the street.
(I remember hiding Public Enemy tapes under my bed so my mom would not find them! ) In my opinion, rappers back then had real lyrical skill.
But just like any good thing, it gets commercialized and lost. How many "rock" and "metal" records out there suck ass? Need I say Metalica's "Saint Anger"......????
Personally I like Busta Rhymes But you are right, for the most part, every new rap album looks the same, has the same back beat, and is fucking annoying!

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

Ha you heard the new Busta Rhymes song? That shit is so horrible I cant imagine what he was thinking with that shit. He cant flow any more either, although I imagine hes just trying to fit in with today's mainstream rappers who have no lyrical talent.

For decent gangsta rap, you gotta go back to the mid 90s or so all the way back to the 80s when NWA, old 2pac and old Snoop were at their best.
These days, the only decent artists in hiphop seem to be more underground; Immortal Technique, Common, The Roots etc...*anything* mainstream today is complete fucking shit, except for some Kanye West songs.

Metal is quite healthy right now, very talented, dynamic, melodic, and interesting. The commercialized stuff never overtakes the real stuff, the real stuff is always ahead of the game. You focus too much on the specific form that they present at one time, and then you lose them. The commercial shit is always outdated. It seems common for musikk to go to Scandanavia to develop itself further.
 Peace.
