SOMETHING TO ENJOY FROM EACH KIND OF MUSIC
    #2086351 - 11/09/03 12:54 PM (14 years, 13 days ago)

i do believe that there's something to enjoy in each category of music, excluding country of course.

here are some songs that may open you guys up to different forms of music:

GANGSTA RAP: mitchy slick, anything by this cat is really good and true try getting YEAH DAT, CONNECTED, MANIAC

another good rapper is Jayo Felony, try to download Nobody on dry land (has a verse about eating shrooms), Do you love life and Girls and boys

and then you have Sherm, his album sherm smoke is very trippy snd perfect for smoking to, songs like Fryde Ryde and Sherm Smoke and Get it krunked

EASTERN/INDIAN: Shakti is amazing a perfect music to set the mood for a trip, or after. it's a group that features John McLaughlin, an amazing guitarist i'm sure most of the guitar afficandos here have heard of him. get Lotus Feet and FACE TO FACE

Jazz: I really like Pat Metheny, try getting As it is, if you like a little more funk with your Jazz try Heribie Hancock...songs like Fickle Funk or palm grease or actual proof
You also have John Coltrane and Charles Mingus, mingus has two great songs called Fables of Faubus and Goodbye Porkie Pie HaT

Guitar accoustic: California Guitar trio are great songs:
Punta Patri, Classical Gas, Apache

Frank Zappa: genius: suggest getting whole albums, try to find everything off of Apostrophe

Steve Vai: virtuoso guitar player try:
Erotic Nightamres, For the love of god

Death Metal: i'm not going to mention Opeth, everybody already knows them, but try Carcass, anything off of Heartwork is good

Morbid angel is another good band, The Ancient Ones, Blessed are the sick

let's see what the rest of you suggest, get some feedback, feel free to add on to the list

And then at night I would wonder:
Had I been wasting all my time enjoying the sweet taste of Tennasse bourbon, brownest of the brown liquors? Where was my girlfriend? Where was my car? Who's bed was I lying on? Which state was I in? And I got that sad feeling to make me cry...

Some older country music can be enjoyable to me, like Willie Nelson, Marty Robbins...Gangsta rap, well, I don't really care for, but there is some hiphop I like quite a bit, (Deltron, Kool Keith, Dan the Automator, Aceyalone, Aesop rock, etc). There's good music in every genre. Its just a matter of finding it!

I agree that there are some good artists in every genre, even pop music, which I loathe for the most part.
