Cake Position
    #585331 - 03/21/02 01:59 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

Some of my cakes arent touching the bottom of their jars since I flipped them, I put them right side up today, no problems on any of the cakes themselves but is it ok if the cake remains up and not touching the bottom of the jar? Im sure some of the cakes will drop...

(I pack my substrate very airy - So far 0 contams too and 80% colinization on some jars out of 12 jars. So im a little excited)

any help you cna give is appreciated

cakes shrink a lil when colonizing, thats natural. also when you flip the cakes will slide down, hopefully you have that layer of straight verm between your cake and the lids, if you do your fine. when the cakes slide down that helps get out some more of the co2 and sucks in oxygen, thats a good thing. even when i opened the lids for like 30 secs. and flipped the bottoms of the cakes took the longest to colonize, everything sounds good here, just wait some more and soon you'll be enjoying the fruits of your labor. late.
