I don't see what 420 said wrong before Mickey. You described misting and called it fanning. Seemed a strange comment to me aswell.
You don't think removing the lid and spraying exchanges air? I was trying to explain that traditional fanning was not necessary in this situation and that the air exchange resulting from the spraying (1-2 time a week) was more than adequate.

How long have the cakes been in the terraRium? Stamets recommends 1-3 air exchanges per hour:
Primordia Formation Relative Humidity: 95-100% Air Temperature: 74-78F Duration: 6-10 days CO2: less than 5,000 ppm Fresh Air Exchanges: 1-3 per hour Light: Diffuse natual or 12-16 hours/day of grow-lux type of vluorescent light high in the blue spectra at the 480 nanometer wavelenght.
Cropping Relative Humidity: 85-92% Air Temperature: 74-78F CO2: less than 5,000 ppm Fresh Air Exchanges: 1-3 per hour Flushing Pattern: Every 5-8 days Harvest Stage: When the cap becomes convex and soon after the partial veil rupures Light: Indirect natural or same as above
Taken from The Mushroom Cultivator by Paul Stamets and J.S. Chilton
You may end up with very small fruit if you do not give enough air exchange.
Good luck

The cakes have been in there for about two weeks or so. Maybe a bit longer. Either way, this is not something new that is being tried. I am not looking for advice..

And I wasn't giving it, but someone new to cultivation will know from my above post above the correct amount of air exchange.
Small fruit result from insufficiant air exchange
Good day

I exchange the air more often when working with casings. Maybe I should have mentioned that, but with cakes, I find that fanning is way overrated.

If you don't have anything constructive to add, stay out of the thread. You're just showing what an ass you are.

I didn't take notes, so I can't give you an exact number. If I were to guess I would say about ten days or so. Subjectively speaking, it took them longer than other strains.

I don't think PR is difficult at all. It just "seemed" to take a bit more time to pin, but hell, you may find different! The exact process followed is detailed above. It's that simple!
Good luck...

The problem with that rehydration technique is that the pins will only want to form around the top and bottom of the cake. Dunking usually provided a more uniformed distribution of pins. WHat kind of yeildage was that?

yeah, I want o know the yealdage too
The internet site listed a yield of about 60g wet on the first flush. Afterwards, the cake was broken up for use outdoors.

what is the reason for the aluminum foil, verm on bottom and verm on top?
i think maybe the perlite isnt supposed to touch the mycelium cause thats just unhealthy...and the aluminum by itself might kill mycelium if its in contact with the bottom, but verm on top?
can someone explain?

The foil keeps the bottom layer of vermiculite off the perlite. If the vermiculite were laying directly on the perlite, overhydration of the cake (through wicking) could result. The vermiculite on top increases the moisture available to the cake. It's like a pseudo casing in the traditional sense.
