If a pregnant woman was to take mushrooms...

The baby would "trip" wouldn't it? I wonder what kind of experience that would be. The baby would have no ego that could be dissolved...without living in the relative world he would have no opinions, no concept of good and bad. No thoughts of any kind. A lot of people who trip get a sense of returning to the source, this baby would already be there, more or less. Do you think the baby's life would be different as a result? Would he even experience anything at all? ??

IMO... I think the reason why psychedelics are so profound is that they bombard your brain in a random fashion, which is very different from the normal functioning patterns. The architecture of the brain is pretty rigid in that there isn't much slack under normal operations. So when you throw in your bunch of "monkeys", they start fiddling with everything and your brain's architecture is then much different than before. These "monkeys" don't do any real damage though (at least the "tryptamonkeys" don't). The brain eventually either "gets used to it" and adapts or the "monkeys" leave the system (or are metabolized). SO... since the neural tissues really aren't that developed in a baby (much less in a fetus), my guess is that as long as the drug does not have some terrible effect on the developing brain, the baby wouldn't feel a thing.

but what would the baby experience? babies dream while still in their mother, so wouldn't they trip?

1. How do you know their "dreams" are the same? 2. And just what does the baby experience before the administration of the drug? I would think that a fetus is ALREADY being randomly bombarded with sensory input, so "more" random bombardment wouldn't do jack in terms of experience. Randomness doesn't compound.

i knew a girl, we had a huge mushroom party with the mushrooms on my lawn and a bunch of friends. we all tripped pretty hard. next morning she vomited alot (mostly shrooms) and felt sick, by weeks end she miscarried. it was pretty horrible too. now she never knew she was pregnant.... but even so, sometimes i feel guilty that the mushrooms may have led to it, we all had nearly a dry oz each or pan subbs each. there was 6 of us, one guy only ate half of it then finished the rest off later in a feindish hunger. we all felt the nausea from them that night, buit it passed, she got it the next morning tho. he never did feel quite right. after and later that week at my house after a few drinks and some pot (not much for her tho, she wasnt feeling well) she woke up in searing pain. she thought she was having cramps, but she never gets cramps. they took her to the hospital and dialated her. sure enough she had miscarried. im not saying mushrooms caused it, but it was a crazy dosage. technically she never should have gotten pregnant because she had the injection. that could also play a factor. its funny, after the big trip and before she got sick, i asked her what her reason for existing was, she told me reproduction......

A pregnant woman shouldn't be taking any drugs. taking lsd during pregnancy can cause miscarages do to uteran contractions. shrooms might have the same effect, im guessing thats what happened to your poor friend mitchnast. I like a blunt or a big fat cone but my dubble-barrel bong is gettin me stoned Cypress Hill

in my anthropology class we studied a tribe in S.America wherein it is a custom to feed the newborn child certain hallucinagenic drugs mixed with the breast milk, they do this in order to show the baby soul the "real" world. Many cultures do this, with different kinds of drugs, kinda intresting too.

this is a very interesting question... when babies are growing up their brain is still forming and all the chemicals are starting to combine and create synapses and neurons and such. If one would introduce the psychedlics at such a young age it would most definately alter the brain and its structure. Maybe for better, but maybe for worse. I wonder if the child would have increased intelligence and awareness with the ingestion of psychedelics at a young age? Or would they simply become insane and not really be aware of what a sane world is?

i think that in grinspoon's book _psychedelics reconsidered_ there is some brief discussion of the kids born during the psychedelic 60s (& 70s?) and how they turned out; some of whomw were conceived, or developed, or even born during psychedelic trips on the psrt of the mother... (can you imagine tripping while in labor????????)

I can't imagine being in labor, let alone tripping while being in labor. No thanks, I will never feel I am missing out on the beauty of childbirth, as many people claim men do. Do any other men out there think they are missing out, or are jealous that they are not able to i've birth. Not me, and I think women are just kidding themselves when they claim that men subconconiously wish that they could bare children.

supposedly this pic was taken as a doc was about to perform surgery on the unborn child, as soon as he made the incision on the uterine wall, the little fella reached out and grabbed his finger. i have know idea as to when the spirit enters the flesh.

...the little fella reached out and grabbed his finger. Are you intimating that there is some significance to this act? i have know idea as to when the spirit enters the flesh. And neither does anyone else as there is no spirit that enters the flesh. Even people who believe this myth can't make sense of it.
