possible reason for shyness
    #5675855 - 05/26/06 03:10 AM (17 years, 8 months ago)

ok so all our lives we notice people here and there that are shy and don't talk to each other.

i believe this is fear passed on from the gov.

to start lets take swear words for instince...police will arrest you fi you start swearing ect.

next this gets handed to your parents and they teach this to children.

but where there really teaching isn't us to not swear...its us to not speak out..to not show our feelings.  When we do we get in trouble and  disaplened.

so we learn from early age to not yell and not swear and overall not to show how we feel to others.  This fear, also results in feelings of being different as being bad, and by speaking out we are saying we are different.  So we don't speak, because we don't want to be thought different.

but then over time we feel more and more outcast, then it becomes as if we are total strangers with nothing in common with the world. aka shy weirdos everywhere right.

so why does the gov want this...surpressing freedom of speach in essence...say the wrong thing in the wrong way you get locked up or thought different by those around you.

swearing..is a way of showing feelings to me...its almost the only way i can.  you notice how upset people get when someone swears...outraged....yet when our freedoms get taken away day by day..nobody cares...nobody gets outraged...because swearing MOVES people.  It gets peoples emotions stirring....its partly the cause for everyone bending over left and right for the g.o.v.

everyones scared because we don't want to be thought different...but from who each other?  ...see the gov has us tricked...got us thinking we are afriad of each other...but in essence its all them the gov....they got us preoccupied with each other....were so seperated now...with such different beleifs from person to person that we could never stand up together for anything.

To my knowledge, it is not illegal to swear unless you're screaming and causing a scene in a public place, and even then I don't think you can be charged with "swearing."

The government doesn't really discourage social behavior in the way it discourages drugs, so I don't really agree with your point. I've never seen any kind of propaganda film against making friends or talking to people, except that "don't talk to strangers" campaign. I believe that the fear that is shyness is more heavily influenced by other factors.

As a little kid I was really shy, and it decreased over time.

It seems much more likely to me that shyness is a result of reinforcement/punishment. When you first start interacting socially at a young age, if you go against your natural inhibitions and take a risk by socializing in some way, and you get rejected, your behavior is being punished and you're much less likely to socialize (at least in the same manner) in the near future. Of course it will also lower your confidence, so the next time you make an attempt at socializing, it'll be a weaker attempt and even more likely to be punished. The opposite is true if your social advance is reinforced with praise/acceptance, and you'll likely develop into an outgoing person.

If you don't have any experience interacting with people, although you have no history of your social behavior being punished, your inherent fear of the unknown will probably cause you to be shy.

It's complicated and I'm sure there are many other factors that influence it, but the whole government thing seems a little far fetched.
