Smoking mushroom and cactus extracts?

Everything I've read about smoking either shrooms or peyote suggests that the effects range from not very much to..pretty much nothing at all. I was wondering, though, what if you did a simple methanol extraction on the mushies (ala Gottlieb in "Psilocybin Production"), to get about 25% psilocybin (Gottlieb reccomends using heat, so I guess the psilocin would have decomposed--perhaps a slow extraction with cold methanol?). If you then stirred this extract into basified water, then added a non-polar solvent (like naptha), separated the solvent layer and then strip off the solvent, you should have psilocybin freebase (or mescaline freebase, if you were doing this with one of our favorite cacti, instead of shrooms). I hypothesize that this freebase product will vaporize at a nice low temperature that won't decompose our actives, if you hit it out of something like an oil pipe, and don't let the flame contact the stuff. Does anyone know if this would be useful? How about dropping some Syrian Rue about 40 minutes before the smoking session (and yes, MAOI's scare me, too--just a hypothetical question)?
