Wood Loving Psilocybe (P. cyanofibrillosa ?)

These pics were taken yesterday ~ 4/28/06.

Back in November I found a patch of decaying mushrooms which looked like cyans. They were growing from hardwood chips and demonstrated an extremely dense mycelial mat. I was intrigued so I took some of the chips home for furthur study. The woodchips were left in a tub and neglected for the past 5 months. The tub was stored in a shed, almost entirely dark and without any fresh air. I was moving some stuff around and took a peek inside. These fruits were a total suprise, especially since the temps have been in the 70's.




As the mushrooms matured, I become somewhat unsure about their classification. They're not showing the classic wavy cap feature of Psilocybe cyanescens, and they seem to be a bit larger in size. My best guess is P. cyanofibrillosa. Maybe someone else may know. Either way, I'm quite impressed with their potency and ability to fruit indoors with the weather warming up. They certainly are interesting, whatever they may be.
