Noiseless Airpumps for PMP!?

Just received my air pump from e-bay and plugged it in.... OMG it's so freakin' loud! There is no way I'd be able to conceal the noise without having another one running for a fish tank or something.

My question is has anyone tried or had success with:
Ario Noiseless Turbo Air Pumps Apparently they're completely noise free minus the sound of bubbles. What is the consensus?!

you could try to muffle the noise with a few boxes.

try putting the pump in a shoe box with a lid, then putting that shoe box in a larger box with a lid filled with towels or some other fabric to muffle the noise. Just check on it to make sure it isn't getting too hot.

but to answer your question, i never used a noiseless air pump, sorry.

I like the loud ones.

The noise lets me know its working.

Plus I don't live with my Mommy or Daddy...so I have no worries.

lol, i was thinking the same, but i figured my sig. has that line covered for me.

Then again a person could be renting thier house and have to worry about the landlord/owner coming in to do inside work and such, but if in that situation i would simply unplug for the time he was there.

Try putting it in a box and suspending it by rubberbands.  This should absorb alot of the vibration of the pump and kill alot of the noise... GL bro :stoned:

No experience with them, but according to the website, they sit IN the body of water they aerate.  So I don't know if you were planning on sitting it in a glass of water and piping the exhaust into your pod somehow or planning on having a realllly deep layer of geolite, but I guess you could get it to work.

And on the subject...some people *cough* just like peace and quiet in their room...be it in their parents' house or not  :wink:

you can go get some poly-fil from wal*mart. wrap this around your pump and put it in a shoebox... fill the shoebox up by the way. cut a few holes in it for airflow and you muffle it AND prefilter the air some.

I was looking at pumps in petsmart a few weeks ago and I noticed some "silent" pumps. I didn't really check them out though because the price for one was nearly triple that of the normal pumps. My pump isn't very loud at all though, and I only paid about $20 for it.

Update!! Well I guess the saying is true - you get what you pay for. My first pump was $5 and sounded like a small jackhammer. I got a repacement for $40 (German built) and with it's adjustable knob on full it still is only a very gentle purr. Ahhh now i can sleep!!!

try needmoresleep's idea and wrap that pump in some open cell foam it will allow the pump to breath so it wont overheat and muffle the noise a little.

it says on diff Hydor sites it says the unit draws down air from an airline tube at the top of the aquarium. would this meet satisfaction? i would appreciate your views on this
