lack of info regarding horse poo?

i picked up some horse poo. upon further examination i found fresh poo and older poo mixed together. some say older is better because no leaching is required and other reasons like 'fire-fangs'...
forgive my newbieness in this area but i am trying to understand how best to treat this poo instead of being treated like poo. we had a good rain the last few days and the majority of the poo is dried and a few nuggets are damp.
i brokie them up in a 5 gallon bucket and filled the bucket with water to begin a leaching process. tomorrow i hope to drain and begin the sun drying process at which point, when dried, i will pastuerize properly.
^^^ any poopoo lovers have input - as i have read the threads and want to make sure this bucket is good for pastuerizing.
i noticed that the surface of the water (in the 5 gallon) is a bit bubbly.
tomorrow i will get some old poo as hyphae suggested (well seasoned) and do another bucket.
imput appreciated

Your defiantly best to pick up well aged and weathered poo. This way you can just just process it (shred it with a wood chipper ideally, but chicken fence works great as a grater and is cheap.) Allow it to fully dry in the sun then put it into a burlap sac or something of the like for storage (I use large paper bags used for leaves in the fall) Store that bags of dry poo somewhere dry.
