Casing Grain

Ok, my first quart of rye grain is finally showing signs of myco growth.. I am going to shake this evening to give it a bit more time. Anyways, I have read several casing teks and some say to put a bottem casing layer under the substrate, and some just have a casing layer on top... What is recommended?

You don?t need a bottom layer. But if you use one, make sure the material used is sterile or you will run into contamination problems.

a friend of mine uses 50/50 verm. and coco coir. pretty well soaked then nuked in micro till steaming hot to sterilize. approx 1 cm thick on bottom and almost 2 cm on top. bottom layer added to give casing more available h2o. spraying has never worked well for him.
