Casing setup
    #592294 - 03/28/02 08:46 PM (23 years, 1 month ago)

ok, this is my master plan for casing colonized rye berries. this setup must fit under a bed (6 inches of clearance). I'm planning on not using a bottom casing layer. i've never cased before, they say the bottom layer is optional. If it's gonna take up vertical space and require extra work, i sure don't want it. The plan is to lay down a 1 to 1.5 inch thick layer of colonized substrate in 6 inch tall tupperware. Then another inch of damp verm on top. The bottom line: no bottom casing layer, no extra humidification, 6 inches in height. Will i be able to get it to pin? will it fruit? can this work!!???

Use a 1/2 inch layer of verm casing with that thin of a substrate layer.:)bluhoney. Also the bottom layer of verm does help. It can save ou from unwanted contamianants by soaking up any water pools that form under the substrate.
