I just had this vision in my dream about a way to transfer rye to new jars of rye.. I've been using the "lift the lid quickly and hope it doesnt contam" method.. but I just figured out this way to do it with almost no chance of contams.. at least a LOT less than opening the lid..

So.. I bring you
Liquidplaya's 99% contam free grain -> XXXX Transfer Tek"

You need:
- your grain master jar
- your XXX jar. (XXX because you can transfer it to any other type of jar)
-Note: your lids must be the 2-part type with the disk and the screw on surrounding lid.

1. Line up your jars onj your sterile environment.

2. SHake the master jar so that the individual kernels of Rye/seed are separated.

3. Remove the master jar's outside ring while holding in place with one finger the disk so that it does not move. Place the ring to the side...

4. Remove the disk on the jar you are currently transfering the grain/seeds to.

5. **the only slightly tricky part, but if you can play yahtzee then you should be able to do this**
Flip the master jar onto the transfer jar so that the master jar is sitting on top of the transfer jar upside down.

6. *Optional* Place a piece of plastic or similar material around the side of where the jars connect, and hold the jars on that side.

7. Then with the other hand, slide the discs both out a little until the desired amount of master grain falls into the bottom jar.

8. Replace the disks back to their original position.

9. Flip the master jar back over, and replace the newly innoculated jar's ring.

10. Repeat steps 4 - 9 for as many jars as you want.

11. Replace the master jar's lid.

ANd thats it!

Edit: just realized this post is 15 years old :facepalm:

Don't bump old shitty threads please.

Every time you do this grains touch the edges of the disk which is not a sterile surface.
I only get contams about every 30 jars I A2G or G2G the normal ways.

This sounds like a good way TO GET contamination. You don't want any contact between vessels when making transfers, whether jar, bag, petri, etc...
