Have you tried going to church?

That would probably work just as well.

Really?

All your "soul searching" and introspective thought failed to find the "underlying pscyhological issues" which caused your problems? hmmmm.... maybe you chose the wrong religion?

Since religion didn't work I have to ask a personal question: Were you touched as a child? Maybe this caused the psychological scarring which led to all this?

Just remember, there is no way a particular chemical/neurotransmitter could influence your thought patterns. If you cannot afford the countless hours and expense of psychotherapy you should consider living a life of despair.

Remember: you're not entitled to feel good or live life if it's a drug that allows you to do so.

Hey, I am speaking from the second hand experience observing my little brother's episodes on meth/weed/DXM. He was a steady tweaker for some time and was constantly getting in trouble for random psychotic things he would do when tweaking or on a DXM binge. My mom did all sorts of stuff to help pull out of it but in the end it was his personal choice to stay off tweak that saved him. After he made the choice he was put on deprakote for 2-3 months and he said that it really helped him get grounded again. As far as we all know he hasn't done tweak since he started that treatment (on top of his commited personal choice). Soon after his DXM use stopped and his MJ use has greatly slowed down. He no longer takes any meds and is still off.

He was diagnosed with bipolar but we are all pretty sure that was just the effects of the meth/DXM because now he is as normal as all the other freshmen in highschool. I'm no doctor but I have a feeling that after a few months without use of stims you will be able to live a healthy life without the use of meds. Just something to consider.

Are you serious? You do realize that you're saying this on a website dedicated to psychadelics, right?

thoughts don't come before the feeling...

limbic lobe.

um...i was manic during my stay at the hospital (I wasn't depressed). I'm not looking for a pill that will change my pattern of thinking.

Right now the pills are helping me stay on a regular sleeping schedule..and soon(few weeks) the level of the drug will be high enough to affect the chemical ratios in my brain and an effect to that will be more stabalized mood (not better or worse....but not as extreme....basically they will help me deal with stress [or fear]).

The limbic brain does initiate the primary emotions, but it is up to the neocortex to sustain primary emotions and "mix" emotions to create secondary and tertiary emotions.

You can alter the process which sustains emotional reactions.  I suggest Albert Ellis' "Guide to Rational Living."

oh and no i wasn't touched as a kid that i recall. I do remember like really early sexual experiments when i was at a young age though. none of those should have been traumatizing though.

I am also bipolar and pretty sure of it. Been institutionalized twice because of manic episodes. But it's mostly the depression that really disables me.
I've tried it without medication, but I'm going to try meds now. Lamictal.

Have you had big depressions yet?

just one episode...that lasted several months.
