I spent christmas in a psyc. hospital....
    #5108506 -

and it was the best christmas ever. My family bonded more than we ever had before....

plus I got diagnosed with bipolar disorder...and am now ok with taking meds.

pills are good....

especially if you get crazy mania combined with paranoia.

What meds do they have you on if you don't mind saying.

I hear you can get crazy mania and paranoia from dirty toilet seats and doorknobs.... and bi-polar disorder is an airborne sickness....

I doubt if you'll have much trouble with insomnia taking this. I was prescribed 300mg/day a long time ago by my GP and saved it as a sleeping pill. 1/3 of a tablet and I'm out!! Took one about a half hour ago as a matter of fact.

Night!

depakote eh? Are there alternatives? I recently read a post about depakote and hair loss. I don't know if that is a common side effect or even if it is true.

yeah i'm sure there are alternatives. hair loss is infact a side effect. so is serious liver problems.

when you take depakote you have to have regular blood tests to make sure your liver is fine.

It seems like anyone can be diagnosed with bipolar these days.. same goes for add.
A friend of mine went to see a doctor, nothing was wrong with him, he mentioned very mild highs and lows and was diagnosed and put on meds..
I wonder if anyone has ever gone to a psych doctor and come back WITHOUT being prescribed something?
I'm convinced that even the most mentally healthy person out there would get prescribed something by a mental doctor.. perhaps they are pushing meds on people.. perhaps there is no such thing as "mentally healthy".

I had a pretty bad manic episode coupled with bad paranoia....

which resulted in me waking my parents up in the middle of the night, running out of the house half naked, leaving the phone off the hook and the bathtub water running, and stealing all of my parent's keys and stealing my mom's car...just so i could go to this party...

i got back at like 7am...and didn't realize that i had caused my parents to be stranded at the house by taking all the keys.

i'm not sure if this was the result of my out of order brain chemistry...or recent use of stimulants....

i'm thinking both.

all i know is...i'd much rather have a regular sleeping schedule and take some pills than to continue making myself suffer by going on drug and alcohol binges.

You might consider working for a balance rather than taking pills. Daily exercise and meditation would do the trick.

That seems like too much work, though, right? Not everyone cares about really being healthy.

i don't have the discipline to do that right now.

i would prefer that method..but i think my laziness is also part of the problem here. I think the pills are going to help me get on track...i don't plan on taking them forever.

i mean...with my pills i'm able to wake up at 7:30am....eat a small breakfast, take my dog for a walk, and now i'm about to go play a round of disc golf.....and it's only 8:32am

Have you tried going to church?

That would probably work just as well.
