Hey Bio; I have Cordyceps JUST beginning to colonize mealworms. . .the key was killing them first, apparantly. All living worms never got infected, only dead ones. No fruiting yet, but still hoping! Good luck with the grasshoppers!

So let me get this straight.... you are using grasshoppers as a substrate?
Very interesting

Doesn't mycelium like chitin (the outer layer of an insect)? I remember reading that somewhere. Can you elaborate on this project.

I have never seen a cordyceps project, any updates?

Peace

i could be wrong, but i dont think that cordyceps like to be cased. if i remember, they grow spores out of the spaces in the exoskeletal shell. these spores are on pressurized stalks and the spores are shot away from the dead insect. i think that the life cycle of this fungal organism is short, and needs open air.
