when someone asks me if i am a religious person i tell them i am most definitely not. but thats not to say i am not a spiritual person. many years ago i was working out and someone said " You know why they call them preacher curls?".. no.. "Because you have to do them religously". then it struck me that that's all religion is. A repitious unchanging motion. nothing more. And thats why people find solice in religion, cause its a finite set of rules, and actions. Ever had a debate with someon religious. it will never lead anywhere until they make the other person cave. why? because thats how religion works, if it was always changing then some would bicker and not want to change, hence those set of rules would be regarded as false. So pull a shroud over your eyes and go through the motions. Or decide what you think is right.

Yeah, most relidgions work that way(but not all), I once tried to convince a guy at my summer camp about something, and it was like talking to a brick wall! I swear he couldn't understand most of the words I said.

And how do you define spirituality?

RELIGION; 1. a system of faith in and worship of a deity. 2. devoutness, dedication to a holy(HOLY; devoted to the service of god or the church, declared sacred by the CHURCH) life. 3. a doctrine of customs accepted on faith. SPIRITUAL; 1. pert. to the soul or spirit. 2. relating to sacred things. This second definition is how the church has stolen a perfectly useful word and warped it for their own use. :) Christianity especially, has stolen half of their beliefs from stronger religions so the church could stay in power. BAH. So then, religion is about worshiping a deity or a church (I especially despise the latter. Christians have warped the ideas of their most famous cult leader into a system of worshipping the middle man...i.e. idolotry.). And, spirituality is about simply believing there is such a thing as a soul...or rather believing in SOMETHING other than what we can see and touch. It's the worship part that bugs me.

Religions are merely ways of developing your spirituality. They are not necessary, but they are tools that if used properly can accelerate spiritual development. Most religions are all pointing at the same thing anyway. Including the entheogenic message.
