Substitute for H202?

OKay, I didn't know H202 was Hydrogen Peroxide so I couldn't get it, is there a substitute? Lysol in water??? lysol before putting water in? alcohol? will anything help me prevent contams? thansk

Read the information on the Lysol bottle to answer your own question. Why can't you get peroxide?

for incubation purposes...im gonna saran and then towel over the plastic container and metal racks with fish tank

You're incubating the peroxide? :smirk:

I think you meant that you want to sterilize the incubator, so lysol or diluted rubbing alcohol would work well. :thumbup:

see the great thing about H2o2 is when u add it to any medium it disinfects which its suppose to do obviously. But after its done doing its job it decomposes to water. I'm still not sure what your trying to do though.

you still didn't say exactly WHAT you are using the Hydrogen Peroxide for.

Most use a very small amount added to the water bottle before they spray down their casing or cake. If this is what you are referring to, just add about a cap full to a good size spray bottle. Or 3% to 97% water.

OR, when you say what "percent should I get", do you mean Isopropyl Alcohol, (rubbing alcohol)? It comes in different percentages and is used to wipe down surfaces or sterilize needles before inocculating. I use 70%, but anything above that is fine too.
