is becoming the crazy kook channel. they have all these shows on horseshit like nostrdamus and the bible code. tons of shit on aliens. a whole show about why hell is real. they present a lot of this kook stuff like its real with little or no dissenting opinion. they are trying to appeal to the art bell , supermarket tabloid crowd.

They always have. They used to keep it limited to late night though.

they are a business like anyone else. they figured out they could get more viewers with these shitty shows. i am a history major, and we talk shit on the history channel like every day my classes.

your best option is to start reading books, or get digital or satellite tv for national geographic, discovery science(not full of motorcycle shows), and history international(which is pretty cool, espeically when they have panel discussions)

good luck.

Yeah, pretty Kooky huh?

Terence McKenna was on Art Bell several times BTW.

But I do agree that The History Channel has gone a little off course though.

However, when you transcend all this pre-conditioning by returning to the original wisdom of the animal body, then you discover this immense dimension of opportunity. For some people, it is a frightening risk. To me, that's the psychedelic experience."

History International was doing a couple shows on eastern and western philosophy. Anybody watch em? Part three of western philosophy is running the 22-25.

It's not only the History Channel. It's even worse with all the Discovery channels. I hate pseudoscience taking over because that's what sells best. I only enjoy the National Geographic and BBC Learning anymore.

Well, i mostly watch thematic channels (NG, Discovery, THC, Odyssey) when using the TV, i got cable btw.

Anyway, i don't see what's the problem with those kind of programs. Even NG had the "taboo" series, which were a prismatic view on spirituality and scientific references. Of all that i've watch at THC and discovery, all they present is unbiased and factual information, in fact i get the feeling i have more questions than answers when those programs finish.

The last Discovery channel program about UFOs did dismiss 95% of all sightings. Even the famous Mexico sighting was proved by a former Lockheed engineer as US prototype crafts, using an type of propulsion demonstrated directly on the documentary by that former engineer. But still, they don't dismiss the existence of intelligent extraterrestrial life. Interestingly enough, many scientists talking in the documentaries don't dismiss it too :smirk:

All is knowledge, you just have to listen and reach your own conclusions. IMHO, bias comes when you stubbornly want to understand just one side of the story.
