And please note my previous post. Look at what jimi hendrix did for himself, given his situation. Look at what every rapper you know of. What did they do for themselves given their situation? They worked hard, and were rewarded. All those "rich" whites that got the hell outa there. You think they had money because it was just given to them? I doubt it. They worked hard for it.

You cant rely on the government to babysit you your whole life. Hell, even when your 14 you realize your parents arent gonna fight your fights for you anymore. You realize mowing lawns arent gonna pay the bills anymore. You realize if you want things done right, you gotta do it yourself. You realize people arent going to take care of you for the rest of your life.

And I quote tool- "Learn to swim"

Society is gonna swallow you up. Especially ours. Get some damn motivation.

"Learn to swim" is in reference to human creation myths concerning floods.  Just about all human cultures have one.  The flood kills off the weak, and the strong rally together and procreate some more strong, newly-evolved humans. 

In light of Katrina, this seems pertinent. :thumbup:

I wasnt in reference to the actual lyrics and meaning of the whole song. Just refering to the quote "Learn to swim".

Learn to swim in the society you live in. You can either drown and die, or learn to swim. People arent going to carry you on their backs forever. Do something about it, or drown with the rest of em.

I just hope the survivors (the ones who got bitchslapped by Katrina, not the ones who got the fuck out of the way) are smarter than they were before. Maybe this will wake them up and they will all become highly motivated meteorologists and helicopter pilots.


Chances are, many will simply use it as an excuse to mooch off of society even more.
