Its harder to do then you think. What some people do is put cubie spores on an apple and feed it to cows.

For other species(I'm thinking of Ps. Weilii) some people will colonize jars and then introduce them to their natural habitat, and hope the mycelium will take hold and produce friuting bodies.

I also believe there is a tek for innoculating cow patties with cubie spores, do some searching- I bet you could even find it here on the shroomery, not 100% sure though.

what i want to do, is introduce them to my backyard.. and see if they will stick around by themselves. there is an abundance of non-halluciogenic(i think) mushrooms, so it should be able to support them...

how do mushrooms in the wild reproduce? perhaps i could do whatever they do

it seems simple hugh. get a bed growing and let the spores fall and eventually start a mycelium network.
but mushies are picky to there home environment. theres a reason there not already in your back yard:)
try this ( if you can afford it ) get a grass growing strain( ringers, semis) and make beds? in ur grass lots of them all over the yard ive never heard of this but heh worth a shot, come to think of it I kow semis are a bitch to grow and Ive only seen a few peolple grow ringers. in theory well my theory the mycelium network would be established and a good % of the fallen spores would just strenghthen the network. of course you would probally have to keep working on it for a few seasons and even then it might not stick around( wild patches can be houdinis) anyway im a AMATUER mycologist in fact all ive grown is cubies indoors so dont take my word on it. I suggest u start spawn bags of azures or cyans this spring or winter and just go with a alder bed...... unleeess.. u could get eveyone in your town to start beds, and convince the landscaping joints to use all alder wood and spread the spores..good luck!

alright.. suppose i was to get the mycelium going in a jar, a grass growing strain if that is possible, and then "plant" it... in other words, cruble it in a shallow depression, and cover with a bit of dirt or even verm, like if you were doing this in a terrarium.. then the mycelium will establish itself?

what are the risks of contamination this far along? is this something that just has no way in hell of working?

Hrm, for starters, where do you live? Climate plays a big part in getting shrooms to fruit.

Your best bet is to grow psilocybe cyanescens in woodchip beds in the shade. Unfortunately, where you live, the temperatures in the summer may screw things up because it just gets way too damn hot! Here, near the coast, we don't have that problem. All you need to do is inject pf jars with cyan spores, and once the cakes are fully colonized, break them up into woodchips and start a bed outdoors.
