Thanks for the photos. The fat one in the last picture looks yummy. It looks like you are having some success on your trip. A lot of people go hunting and never find anything. Now you can say your trip was a success. Keep on hunting and have some fun as well. Get wild and have a fantastic holiday too. You remember how it used to be.

Yeah this topic is going to the spore exchange.
We don't want to clogg up the hunting forum with yet another *new* strain of cubensis from the same country we already have 17 collected from.

It is a poor collection of Cubensis in my own humble opinion.

Mjshsromsers's other topic about another new strain has also been moved due to uninterest, to the pictures forum.

Who do you think brought us many of those strains? John, although I don't know him well, or really talk to him here, has made a HELL of a contribution to this shroomery and the mushroom community at large. Many of us could only hope to give a fraction of what MJ has brought onto us. Now if I could only get my hands on one of those beauty Ps. Samuiensis that everyone's talking about...

In case you hadn't noticed MJshroomer has been on a hunt. Just because he went half way around the world to hunt doesn't mean he's not hunting. Just because he is hunting a new strain, doesn't mean he's not hunting. I, for one, am fascinated by his hunt and want to read about it in the hunting forum. I don't have time to read all the other forums, but I always read the hunting forum. If this post was in another forum, I wouldn't have seen it. I really feel this post belongs here as well as does MJshroomer.

MJshroomer is a huge part of the hunting forum as I am sure everyone here agrees. So much a part that I feel that anything he does belongs here. Let's face it, this is entertainment. You don't have to like all the stars. He hurt my feelings and I hated him for a long time; now however, I admire him greatly. He is loyal and faithful to us and gives us his great knowledge for free. I would hate to lose him because of conflict. I would hate to lose all the things I might have learned from him in the future. Can you imagine he is plugged in half way around the world answering questions about someone's find.

The peanut gallery is cheering for MJshroomer----yaaaaaay!!!

No, i think GG has a valid point - how exactly do we determine that a particular cubensis is of a new 'spore-race'? Wouldnt the genetics and characteristics of the strain need to be unique and stable through / cultivation and/or fruiting in the wild?
Otherwise we could all be growing new spore-races every time we cultivate cubensis - the nature of mushrooms are that their characteristics are ever changing - each isolate has its own unique qualities - each individual strain in multispore innoculation.
