Apple G4 Powerbook - the cheapest one is 1499
Apple G4 iBook - More for the casual computer user than the professional computer user. Cheaper too. The 14-inch is 1299.

Don't buy a Dell, I had one for about a month. It needed a bunch of stuff replaced (screen, motherboard, mouse). The tech support is awful and they repaired a brand new notebook with refurbished parts.

I am not a fan of Toshibas. My girlfriend has an HP which is awesome. Plus she got it at a great price.

HP is a bad computer company. HP is a company you go to for printers, their specialty.
Just like you wouldn't get a Maytag air conditioner, only a Maytag Washer/Dryer. (My gf got a Maytag air conditioner and it's a piece of shit.)

My CD drive crapped out after 1 month. Called tech support, e-mailed tech support, fuckers GAVE ME NOTHING BUT HEADACHES. They dont even have service locations. They're slippery fuckers, they would have taken 2 months to fix my machine with a SLOWER DRIVER so i just got an external. Thanks a lot, assfucks.

I've got a dell too.
I was wiping the keyboard and the H key got ripped off. I call tech support and let it slip. He sent me a new keyboard and told me to use Air from now on.
I'd like to get a Apple, i havent used a Mac since '95.

Dude, the Apple OS has come a LONG way from that System 7 shite. OSX is a whole new ballgame, and it rules.

Well it depends on what you're looking for in software.
If you're big on computer gaming, then you don't want a mac.
If you want to do video editing, music production/engineering, or graphic design, get a mac.

I think macs are great for people who just need a computer for whatever, i.e. the internet, some word processing, a few token games.
They're so user-friendly, and tend to become part of your house the way appliances do, rather than standing out as THE COMPUTER
