Seattle Season?

I am sure that I will be too late but I'd kick myself if I wasn't and I didn't go hunting. I am going to be in seattle mid december and am wondering if there is any chance of still finding any cyans that late? I presume the season is already over but I thought there might still be a few stragglers. Please give me some info on this. Also if it is still possible to find them I would love it if someone might want to go with me. Karen

There will almost 100 percent sure still be cyans fruiting. In fact i would wager that they will still be fruiting in a fair about of abundance in mid december. I picked cyans last year up in bellingham into january. The weather around the pacific northwest usually regulates itself pretty well, it never goes more than a few days without rain and that means cloud cove which warms things up. So yea, they will still be up for sure. OI OI!!

isnt seattle a harsh winter climate? I would think the cold weather wouldnt allow shrooms to grow and the snow would make it impossible to find anyhing?

I dont know what you consider harsh. We may get snow, some years we dont get snow at all. Normally the snow if it falls is very wet and melts away very quickly, usually within the day. Its not often really that we get any major snow. Stay down at the water and its warm and good shroom growing weather.

Well if that is the case is anyone willing to take me and my boyfriend hunting? We are going to be there from Dec 22 - 29 and we will be staying in Bothell. We will have lots of free time while we are there so chances are we could work with your schedule. I have been once before at GG in SF and I actually was the one that found the cyans...hehehe YAY ME! Seeing as how I don't have any idea where to be looking round there because I am entirely not familiar with the area I would more then likely need some help. Plus I would feel more comfortable with someone more experienced. Thanks, Karen

Oh yeah and we would have transportation so it's not like you would have to drive us around or anything. My boyfriend used to live in seattle so he knows his way around but that was before he was into mushies. :) I think the 23 would be the best but of course that is up to anyone who might take me! Oh yeah and if anyone is worried about us wanting a large portion of the bounty. Not so...it isn't like we could take a big sack of cyans on the plane with us. So we would only want a very small amount. Karen

I'm certain my wife and I would be absolutely no help to you as we just spent all day out hunting and came up with diddly. So, yes, I hunt in Seattle. But I don't know where/what to get or look for. I guess that's why they call it "hunting" and not "finding".

No One else? Even if you aren't intersted in taking me hunting then at least let me know your opinion on finding them that late in the season. I am really excited about possibly being able to hunt...It's not like I could even possibly find any worthwhile shroomies in San Diego so my only chance in when I travel. Sigh. Karen

I found some cys in a flower bed in Queen Anne on Friday but came up dry on Saturday after looking at Bellevue office parks, Richmond beach, Woodway, and a park by Northgate. Will Try again today at a new place today.

found some nice healthy ones in Magnolia in a planter along the side walk somewhere around 35w but I dont recomend it cuz it is someones house and thought it was weird myself to be looking in someones flower beds in their yard without asking first. Also found some at the childrens hospital playground the parking lot area of North Seattle Community College, Hope everyone can find what they are looking for I know I did.

I looked last year on the plateau at the park on what is that lake? cottage lake across from QFC and didnt find anything. I never looked in Issaquah but I have had alot better luck on the west side of the foothills. Today I found some and wasnt even looking. They were small. About 1/2 to 1 inch high and the mature caps were 1/2 to 1 inch wide with thick stems. I got a couple hundred wet grams of them near the Key Arena West entrance. The weird thing was there were alot clumped under a cedar tree. I thought they didnt like cedars but prefered conifers.
