Surprised no one has posted anything here yet.

I seem to remember the past few years we started to have finds in Georgia the end of February/early March. We haven’t seen a multi week warmup this year like we’ve had the past few years.

Looks like we’re gonna see warmer temps over the next 10 days with no freezing temps. Maybe we are done with below 32 for the year.

I sure hope that the freeze is over, I strongly dislike the cold.

Yeah, I've been seeing the same thing. I'm itching so bad. I might make the 2 hour trek south to Richmond to look along the James, which is where the central VA'ers seem to go--just to get an early start to the season.

How prevalent are the Georgia ovoids? I haven't really hard much about them, koods talks about them like people have been hunting them there forever

I agree, but I think it's worth looking in the central Georgia area and South. I am determined to find suitable habitat here to spawn. For all I know they could already have a foot hold, just haven't been found yet. It would be nice to see woodloving Psilocybe species in this part of the world, other than that it's dunglovers.

People have been hunting them in the Georgia areas as long as up north.  They are a newly documented species.  If the grass has germinated and is a few inches high, then they've probably probably started fruiting and is a good time to look.

I know a buddy of mine that lives in GA has been finding a bunch of Morels (show-off) but that season just started there.  We're still looking at the end of March, 1st week of April up here in VA

With this past years flooding, it completely WIPED-OUT my spot along the river.  What's weird to me is that I've hunted MANY potential spots above & below that area with NO luck what so ever.  I'm not sure if it has to do with the amount of sun they get or what because everything else seems to be on point?

The vernal pools are flooded like I’ve never seen before. There are frogs everywhere. I don’t think moisture will be an issue this year.
