breeg and textured thanks for the props guys!!

I'll post photos once i move the chips into a fruiting chamber...gonna leave them there to see if I can squueze out another flush until it's time to plant them in my outdoor patch in another month or so...

That article was dope...what a great read...and yeah that quote is freaking hilarious!!!

I think its worth noting that I never had these chips outside over the winter, tgey have remained in my living room at around 65 to 70 degrees...and still put out a beautiful flush...

Nice finds in GA!

Bell Co., Kentucky is on the map.

If you find some which aren't on this map, please add an observation on Mushroom Observer.  Try to make the location accurate at least to the county.

Very cool too, as your patches are in landscaped woodchips, whereas mine are in a riparian habitat.

Looks like a really nice bunch!! Im definitely trying to begin my hunt this year with some ovoids.

Do you think that they are already going to be fruiting all around metro atlanta? Or do you think it is likely that most are going to be a couple more weeks until they fruit?

Thanks!

When you find a jar full of ovoids that you lost. Got enough to wait a couple more months. Also, this year I am going to go all out on the anti parasite measures. Last season I had a 2 ticks on my balls.

Man this long term forcast sucks. The chances of an early season have pretty much vanished.

Yeah, the forsythias haven't even bloomed yet. Let alone the bradford pears or ornamental cherries...pretty nuts.

Hmm I wonder if SE KY is fruiting yet or if the MO find was a once off for an almost early year

We all know the weather can swing up in a single week. Trimming the trees today I do believe the maple buds are still on schedule here in central pa. However I won't see anything till late April in this area

I think ovoids will start fruiting when avg temps are around 50 degrees.
(60 degrees daytime high, 40 degrees nighttime low)

I was out doing the same in the area, was beautiful out today. Even got out to scout out a place I feel has potential. One of the logs was filled with gallerina.

I still have yet to find my first ovoid, this will be my second year searching. Could anybody give me any insight into these habitat pictures I took today?

Seemed a good mixture of sand/mud. Close to the Susquehanna. Not sure what caused the chipping in the log.. or what kind it is for that matter. Infestation maybe? Deer? Either way it's food for them

Happy hunting everyone! Good luck, I see anticipation is growing in more than just me. :crazy2:

Going through the hard drive now.
EDIT:Lost the picture when my phone broke. Now no one will believe me.
What happen was there was a small tear in my pants that got caught on a branch and ripped my crotch area open. Since I had eaten the first ovoid I found, it didnt concern me.
Instead of spraying the area with deet, or rubbing peppermint on my thighs, or even extra spraying the area after sewing, I sewed it shut with a knife and hemp wick and finished the hunt.

They were about 1 maybe 2 mm large. Smallest ticks I've ever seen.
