:bearbreakdance:

Sooo pumped for the new season!! Gonna be doing a couple weekends down in PA this year! Gonna get some wild fruits and bring back some colonized wood to add to my patch...:jah:

So i have an update on my fruiting Ovoid spawn. Check out this haul!!!

Some monster specimens came out on this flush...and I remember the log i chose to take home had some monster wild fruits on it, so looks like I have some fantastic genetics on my hands!

Good stuff breeg and petey :super: I guess I'll add my tubs and cakes that were outside. Most tubs have flushed once but nothing from my patches yet. It shouldn't be much longer though. Good luck everyone.

Thanks petey:hatsoff: These tubs stayed outside until it was winter then brought into the basement and covered with plastic to hold humidity. After a month or two, plenty of fae and misting they started to fruit. Ovoids are very aggressive and ate thru all that in no time:mushroomgrow: Best of luck with your project and its definitely possible for indoors.

:congrats: :super:

breeg89, Some awesome finds, way to start things off!  I kinda figured it'd be Georgia kicking us off this year.  We still have about another month up here, so it's sweet to get pumped up with some pics from down south.

There used to be a guy called hashfinger on these boards that was always looking to find some ovoids in North Ga. but always struck out....I think he had to move to the midwest or something. I'll bet he would be envious of breegs find.

I kind of miss him being around...he had some really cool trip reports.

More info on this UPenn project?

And I just got extremely lucky. I was hunting morels last spring which put me in good ovoid habitats. I've checked several other similar water shed habitats and haven't found any more.

Awesome.

Yeah, this cracked me up (quote from the paper discussing the cultivation):

Quote:

"This is really more an intuitive than scientific experiment, and quite frankly we were surprised it worked.  Using methods employed by a member of an internet mushroom website blogger named, Mushpuppet, we were able to bring to fruit, a beautiful harvest of P. ovoideocystidiata. "

Excellent work by avid and petey. My neglected woodchips that I forgot outside this winter didn't take. Oh well, this a new season. Didn't have much luck with woodsauce LC last year - looking forward to trying stem butts.

And thanks TS. Looking forward to your awesome photos.

That was a cool paper from experts that tricked a project into thinking it just went thru winter.  Just goes to show that nature knows best.

Totally forgot to give props to Peteyboy and avidpicker.  Nice works guys!  :awesomenod:  I'm always a lil jealous at you all that can work these things within a controlled situation.

Hope this season provides the opportunity for lots of pics as well.  I think this year I'll have to get a supporter account in order to keep posting like last year.  Just about ran out of room last season.

It's the right time of year for them.  Not sure what other Psilocybe would be waking up so quickly after the winter thaw.  It seems that GA is going to have a bunch of new ovoid finds this year.  That's real cool.

I picked the fresher ones and took a shit ton of mycelium seeing as I probably won't be back to that house. It was in someone's back yard I was working for. I had a hard time believing what I was seeing. Found 2 seperate patches. One in front yard and one in back. Both in mulch.
