I found these yesterday in the woods... and wanted to know the type of mushroom they may be.

Habitat: woods in Seattle. found growing at the base of a live tree.
Gills: brownish/black, attached.
Stem: 2-5cm length, 2mm diameter, white, hollow, thicker at base.
Cap: 2-4cm diameter, caramel brown, conical,
Spore print color: black
Color that the mushroom bruises: it became slightly darker
Scent of the mushroom: unknown

There were 7 or 8 of these mushrooms growing out of the base of the tree. (see the first 3 pics)

On the other side of the tree, there were a lot more, but these looked a little different (lighter colored, still the white stem) (see the last 2 pics)

Those are definitely coprinoids. Coprinus sp., Coprinopsis sp., or Coprinella sp., I don't know. But one of those.

I see them growing all over the place here south of Portland. One of my neighbors always complains about the same species you have growing around a stump in his front yard in clumps of 50+ after the rains.

Spot on! I've been trying to find that one myself. Looks just like what I see around here.
